Lacks Management

Good - clean spacious rooms - air con - good location - nice food - most staff friendly Bad I was a solo female traveller, but my partner & friend were coming to join me on this stay after 2 nights. On the 2nd night somebody called my room phone late at night and asked me if I wanted him to sleep with me. I complained to reception the next day and later spoke to the manager (around 11am). He said that he would look into it. At the same time he said that I had to pay more than double for the room - even though we had agreed the rates 2 nights before. I explained I had friends coming and it was late to change the bookings so he honoured the price for one night. After hearing nothing about the incident by the time we checked out the following morning, I asked to speak to the manager. He said he had looked at the CCTV (although checked the wrong times - my fault as I initially said midnight but it was actually around 11.20pm which I did tell another member of staff) so he said he would look into it further. As a gesture of goodwill (baring in mind we had just checked out and already paid for another hotel) he would give us the same rate for another night. The incident hasn’t been handled well and the communication from the manager has lacked, with no empathy. The room rates had been agreed with reception staff and it has inconvenienced our whole trip. To do a gesture of good will after making us checkout is another way of showing the lack of management.

Lovely modern hotel close to the beach!

Had a great 3 night stay in this hotel. The room was large and the bed massive! Nice balcony off the room too. Very relaxing atmosphere near to a nice stretch of beach. The waves are very choppy in Tangalle so not ideal for swimming. The noise of the waves crashing can be heard from the room but I liked this! Staff are extremely helpful and go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant stay - can organise a driver or tuk tuk for you too. Plenty of restaurants along the street - fabulous seafood. I loved my stay in Tangalle and at this hotel!

Nice hotel on the beach, but not 4*

New hotel but need some improvment in case of room property mantainance (TV, board shelfs) and cleanest of open stairs and corridors. No safe in the room. Low quality soap and nothing in case of other toilet acessories that is no 4* standart. Breakfast is limited by different type of eggs, no other choice for few days and long waiting time to get it. Could be the best on this nice beach, but managment need to fix all this issue as soon as possible .

This venue seems to be mostly for local Sri Lankan weddings as there was a big room for events and the property otherwise was pretty bare. There were staff everywhere but no one really seemed to know what they were doing or seemed to care. The property seems somewhat unfinished and although the beach is beautifully isolated and easy to access from the hotel, there are no beach umbrellas or towels, or any other basics for a beach hotel. The room was humid so we turned on the A/C immediately, which worked fine. The bed was large but there was an odd smell coming from the bathroom. This smell was akin to bathrooms I've been to in developing countries so maybe it is emanating from the pipes. The bathroom is the type with a drain so there's no separate shower which Western people may not be used to. Breakfast was on the light side of what we were used to in Ella and Dhambulla for similarly priced hotels. The staff was pretty inattentive and I had to ask for bottled water 3x before it was delivered. There are tons of other accommodations, restaurants, and beach nearby so I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone looking for a bit of comfort after hard long travel or something more than the bare minimum of a beachside hotel.

Recension Ceylonsea Hotel & Spa

Hotellet är OK och läget är fint nära stranden. Rummen är också OK. Det som drar ned betyget är att granntomten är en ödetomt som är smutsig. Vi hade beställt middag och denna var inte alls bra. Frukosten var OK. Vi har dock bott på flera andra hotell där det ofta erbjöds kvälls- och frukostbuffé. Detta var inte fallet på Ceylonsea Hotel & Spa. Vi kommer att välja ett annat hotell nästa gång vi kommer till Tangalle.

Welcomed with fruit juice drink. Easy walking distance to shops and beachfront cafés. Comfortable room with good facilities and balcony.

Got great potential when it's finished

we had an enjoyable 3 night stay, the hotel will be lovely once it's finished. The grounds are a building site with noisy workmen from 5am. The staff are really helpful and friendly - well worth a visit but I'd leave it a couple of months
