"• Substandard cleanliness — Overall cleanliness throughout the hotel was noticeably poor. • Broken elevators — One elevator was completely out of service, and the other was barely functioning. • Filthy stairs — Because the elevators didn’t work, we had to use stairs that were extremely dirty. • No real lobby — There was no actual lobby; only the breakfast area, and after breakfast all chairs were stacked, leaving zero seating for guests. • Misleading room photos — Pictures showed sofas and couches, but our room had no seating at all. • Door wouldn’t close — The room door only closed if you forced it hard, likely due to uneven flooring or misalignment; kids couldn’t close it. • Peeling wall surface — The wall near the ceiling had peeled off, giving the room a neglected appearance. • Broken commode seat — The toilet seat was broken, adding to the list of maintenance issues. • Unprofessional front desk — Staff handed us bath tissue instead of facial tissue. • Poor value for the price — The stay was far too expensive for the quality provided. • Brand disappointment — I previously had a good impression of La Quinta, but this location did not meet the brand’s standards."

"Quietest room I ever slept in and the staff at this hotel are exceptional. Bravo. I wish all hotels were Passive House certified and delivered such a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. We also used the hotel bicycles to pedal into New Haven. Super fun."

"The property management team that manage this room were very responsive and attentive. The room was very clean, accommodating, renovated and thoughtful. Comfortable bed and liked having control of A/C or Heat and an extra space heater. Having an updated bathroom and full kitchen was great. The only complaint that I had, that wouldn’t give my stay 5 stars, is the television was not working/connecting to the WiFi to stream any channels. WiFi was spotty for one day as well. Otherwise, everything else was great."

"The Blake Hotel exceeded our expectations! We booked this hotel after canceling another reservation in Madison near the beach area. We could not be more satisfied with our choice! The location was ideal for delicious dining, checking out impressive Yale museums, local shopping, etc. The hotel front desk staff were polite & extremely helpful. On our last full day in CT, we decided to extend our stay, and they made it super simple to do so. The cleaning staff were extremely impressive! We would call for extra blankets or more coffee, and they were at our door ASAP. Furthermore, I have never stayed at a hotel that did not rush you to clean the room daily, but at this hotel it didn’t matter what time of day we left our room, we always returned to it cleaned. They deserve a raise! Lastly, the overall decor and atmosphere were exceptional. We will stay here again in the future, and recommend it to friends & family."

"Stayed here the weekend of my 50th Yale reunion. I cannot thank the hotel staff for taking such excellent care of me and their other guests. Reception was friendly, welcoming, and courteous; my room was beautifully clean and spacious, design highly functional, sleep quality excellent; breakfast was simple but good, with excellent service. I have friends in New Haven, and will happily stay here again when I come to visit them."
