About this property
Maine Cabin on Beautiful, Quiet Lake....Close to Ocean
Pine Needle Cabin is available for rent on scenic Bauneg Beg Lake in Sanford, Maine. A little over an hour north of Boston; 40 minutes south of Portland, ME; about 20 minutes to the Marginal Way in Ogunquit; 30 minutes to the lobster docks or beach at Kennebunkport; an hour to an hour and a half to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. There is an 18-hole golf course under 5 minutes from the cabins, with a Par-3 and miniature golf course another 5 minutes down the road. There are wonderful hiking trails, bicycling tours, and terrific kayaking – lake or ocean. Unlimited day trips to other parts of Maine or New Hampshire. Bauneg Beg Lake is very clean and quiet, with swimming, fishing and boating. Cabin is located on the east shore, getting full day sun for great swimming, and beautiful sunsets! Pine Needle Cabin is a rustic 1-story cabin on a sloped site directly overlooking the lake. The cabin was built around a turn of the century ice-fishing house from a lake in NH - now the living room - with dark wood paneling and fireplace with wood-burning stove. There is an entry foyer, kitchen/dining area, bathroom with shower, and a large screened in porch -- with an eating area, chaise lounge and cushioned chairs, to enjoy the lake at any time of day. There are 3 bedrooms -- 2 with double beds & 1 twin bed with a trundle. The exterior of the cabin was recently renovated – new metal roof, stone chimney and cedar shakes. There is a dock for swimming, sunning and fishing at lakeside. There are a rowboat and kayaks for your use. There is also a boat ramp on the lake if you wish to bring a motorboat or sailboat. The cabins are open from the beginning of June through early October, and available on a weekly rental basis from Saturday to Saturday. ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

We had a wonderful stay. The swimming is everything I wanted. I brought my daughter and granddaughter (21mo). I want them to have the experience of being in a Maine camp on the lake. We swam, walked, went to our favorite places for seafood, watched the sunset and looms from the porch and slept so good. Thanks!
Pine Needle cabin is full of rustic charm and hearkens back to simpler times. The lake is lovely for swimming, kayaking, and loon watching. Although the cabin is perfect for peace and quiet, it’s also near many activities and attractions in the coastal towns of Kittery, York, Ogunquit, Wells, Kennebunkport, and Biddeford. We found lots of great hiking trails nearby. We can’t wait to return!
We had an amazing week. The Cabin is the perfect size for 3-5 people. The screened in porch was so relaxing to sit and enjoy the lake views and summer breeze. We loved all the rustic character of the place. We also enjoyed days in Kittery, York (Nubble Lighthouse), Ongunquit, Wells and Kennebunk as well as Berwick, Sanford and nearby Dover, NH. We hope to visit again soon.
Nice spot on the lake, close to the shore as well. Camp is located well in from the roads so no concerns with traffic while staying there with our dog. Great screened porch. Although we didn’t get an opportunity to use them as the weather was cool it was nice to have kayaks and PFDs available if you were so inclined. Easy drive to explore the coast from the cabin. Lovely walks/small hikes nearby. Also close to shopping and Shain’s which was great!
This was absolutely amazing. Everyone was wonderful around us. The lake is beautiful with a great breeze. The cabin is enchanting and we truly wanted to stay forever. It’s rustic charm enraptured us from the start and there was no shortage of fun. Our kids least favorite day was the one we ventured away from the cabin to go to York. They much preferred to be at the cabin, fishing, boating, fires, s’mores, games. We can’t wait to go back and Jan is so responsive. Everything was impeccable. If you’re a luxury hotel with room service type of person it may not be for you but for us it was heaven.
It’s an older rustic cabin situated on a beautiful clean lake. We liked the large screened porch that overlooks the lake and the comfortable furniture in the living room. The kitchen had all the necessary appliances and all the essentials you will need for meal preparation. The weather was unusually hot while we were there so being that there is no A/C it was a bit uncomfortable at times although the three fans provided did offer some relief. You will need to bring your own bedsheets, towels, and wash cloths as these are not provided. Also bring biodegradable toilet paper, otherwise you’ll have to dispose of your paper into the can in the bathroom. Jan, the host, provided us with some excellent information regarding all the things to do in the area, shopping, and great restaurants. We had a very nice time using the kayaks and just lounging by the lake as well as visiting the touristy musts at Ogunquit and Kennebunkport.
The place was beautiful, the location was great! The neighbors were friendly and everything was a close drive away. Had a great and relaxing time away. I hope to rent it again
This is the second time we rented the property the first was with our infant grandsons, this time it was to getaway for a quiet week. That is exactly what we got!
Yes, enjoyed it VERY much. Why? Because it was totally as described. A cabin on a nice big lake, with the sound of loons nights and mornings, with that nice big porch and three bedrooms. Children & teens would love it. Couldn't ask for more. We have a history of vacations on lakes in VT, NH and ME so we're biased. Too bad it's so far from NC. We'd be back often and have already recommended it to friends in New England.
Overall a very relaxing stay at this small rustic cabin on the lake - property as described in posting. Many pros: quiet setting, awesome screened in porch, two docks with access to 4 kayaks and a rowboat, great fishing, within 5 minutes of yummy ice cream and lobster rolls, and excellent communication with property owner. One con: hard to keep the rugs/floors clean with the kids coming in from the lake and from the pine pitch.

Memories made
Cute little cabin. A bit cluttered with unnecessary furniture and dishes. No place to put our food. Little ants on counter and in cupboard. Bit of a hill to the fire pit. Caution if you aren't steady on your feet. View was incredible, swimming was amazing. Neighbors were nice. Overall we had a great vacation with lots of laughs and made great memories.
Great location - however, rustic does not mean dirty. Kitchen was greasy on most surfaces. Cooling fans (which were needed) were encrusted with dust and dirt - we had to clean. Many dished had dried food on them. Sofa was sticky - we had to buy a flat sheet to cover. Most things in cabin were extremely dusty. Floors not out in the open were filthy. We had to leave the cabin cleaner than we found it. Would not recommend.
We had a wonderful time at Pine Needle Cabin and can't wait to go back! Being right on the lake was heaven. When we weren't all in the water, grownups could sit on the lovely screened-in porch and watch the water sparkle and the children swim (which was often!). It is rustic, as it says in the description, but very cozy, clean and comfortable, and the antiques fun to look at. Neighbors at times enjoyed some loud music and bright lights in their yards, and there were more motorboats and jetskis than we would have expected most days for a lake of its size, but we would still consider it a very peaceful place. The owners were kind and quick to respond to questions. Our only complaint is that our week went too quickly!

Great Memories!!
This is the cutest cabin right on lake front. Plenty of room inside and a gorgeous front porch viewing over the pond. There was a nice dock with stairs to swim from. There were also kayaks and a row boat for your use. The fire pit down by the lake was perfect for nightly fires along the water front. I was also able to bring my girl, my dog. It was so relaxing here. People around this area were great taking us out on thier boats around the pond. Nice parties next door. Can’t wait to come back!! Don’t want to be leaving today. No complaints here!!!!! Everything was exactly what we wanted!!! Bye till next year Bauneg Beg!!!
Everything was good but Jan emailed me to tell me I was not getting my 50.00 deposit back because we left a bag in kitchen it clearly states don’t throw away bag if not full, we took it 3/4 of a mile Friday morning as instructed, left a bad impression
