The Royal Park Canvas - Osaka Kitahama
10/10 Excellent
"This hotel is a vibe (boutique) in a walkable thriving neighborhood. It’s contemporary and comfortable. My biggest gripe with this place was the lack of outlets in our room. There was absolutely no electrical outlet in the bathroom, which made curling hair a nightmare. You always need electricity in a bathroom and there was nowhere to plug anything in. The hairdryer was hardwired into the wall. It was also difficult to find outlets around the bed and in the bedroom. The good thing about the hotel is that it is literally steps away from me train station, which was super convenient. It practically sits on top of the train station. Also, there is a large lounge area with a coffee bar and a regular bar so you can just sit there all night and play connect for and chill out if you want to. It’s a very good vibe. They just need to work a little harder on the electrical outlet issue. The shower was great, the water pressure was great, and they gave wonderful amenities. I might stay here again if I knew I wouldn’t have to struggle so much in the morning styling myself in the mirror. 😜"

Onyado Nono Kyotoshichijo Natural Hot Springs
6/10 Okay
"The first room I was given immediately exuded smelly BO, but I thought it was not aired properly so I turned on air, was so tired, just went to sleep. Although I was exhausted, I kept waking up to whiffs of stinky BO, such that after waking up and nodding back to sleep I could stand it no longer, got up at 2am (02:00), packed up my stuff and went to the lobby for a room change. I want to note that when I first pulled back the comforter, I saw a strand of hair, but didn’t have the energy to deal with it. Upon informing the staff, there was no concern of the quality and no apologies offered. The only thing she was concerned with was whether I left anything in the room. I was made to wait for 10-15 minutes before she and another staff came out to work on the room change. She accompanied me to the new assigned room, which turned out to be one with wheelchair access. Naturally being wheelchair accessible the bedroom floor was marked. The bathroom floor was not dirty but also not spotless. Again I was exhausted, walked into a clean smelling warm bedroom and nodded approval as all I wanted to do was get some rest. With checking in and out automated to a degree, it felt very cold and the word “hospitality « was lacking. The exception was the ladies who handled my luggage. They were very warm and helpful. On the positive side, I really enjoyed the various onsen baths, the amenities such as hairbrush, hair bands and skincare. Love the ice cream. Didnt try the ramen but its a nice touc"

Hotel Forza Osaka Namba Dotonbori
6/10 Okay
"Look, I'm not gonna lie. When it comes to location, this place is all Aces! Right in the middle of Dotonbori street is a pretty great place to be, if you don't mind stepping out into the chaos of that street. Lots of restaurants, shops, and arcades nearby. That being said, there are some things to consider before you book here. 1: The room is much smaller than you expect. Certainly smaller than the photos represent. 2: There were unidentifiable stains on our carpet. We ended up putting extra towels over them, because God knows what they came from. 3: There was a sewer gas smell that kept appearing in our bathroom, despite us having the fan on. 4: The laundry situation... Look, if the hotel is anywhere near capacity, good luck being able to do your laundry on site. They only have 3 very small washing machines for this huge hotel. They also don't clean the machines very often, from what I could tell. I'm not going to beat a dead horse here. I've certainly stayed in much worse. It's not a bad hotel. It's just not a great one. If location is the most important thing to you, then feel free to book this hotel for your stay."

The Royal Park Hotel Iconic Osaka Midosuji
10/10 Excellent
"Best value for money. It takes a short walk to the subway station (Midosuji Line). If you are feeling adventurous, just walk straight from the hotel all the way the way to Dotonbori (Approximately 2km walk). Room’s are spacious and most importantly, you can place your luggages at the mini hallway inside your room."
