Vagabond Inn Bakersfield South

10/10 Excellent

"A Home Away From Home During a Difficult Season My family and I have been staying in Bakersfield for nearly 11 months while supporting our daughter through a serious, life-changing situation. We live in Los Angeles, so being away from home has been incredibly difficult. During this time, the Vagabond Inn on Colony Street has become more than a place to stay—it has become familiar and welcoming. I am a former Marriott-certified trainer and Front Office Manager. Throughout my hospitality career, I have lived by one philosophy: “Treat people the way you would want to be treated.” When training my teams, I often said: “Anyone can be taught a skill. Knowledge can be learned, but passion is rare—and genuine passion comes from the heart.” That “passion of the heart” is what I looked for when hiring and training. That is why I want to recognize Anna, Front Office Manager, and Eric, Graveyard Shift. Anna consistently shows genuine kindness and respect. She listens, tries to meet me halfway within property policies, and asks how I am and how my daughter is doing. Those simple questions have meant more than she knows. Eric understands how much I rush in and out for appointments and family responsibilities. He checks on me, makes small talk, and, when possible within procedures, has helped make checking into a new reservation easier so I can focus on my family. To some, these may seem like small gestures. To someone carrying the emotional stress of a family crisis, they mean ever"

Vagabond Inn Lebec

8/10 Good

"The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was helpful. There is a refrigerator in the room, but no coffee maker or hot water, although coffee is served downstairs in the lobby in the mornings. The bathroom doesn't seem to have any hooks for clothes or towels, which was kind of odd, but otherwise it was a pleasant stay. Also very convenient to gas station and fast food."

10/10 Excellent

"This was a wonder Home for our 24 people Labor Day Retreat. It was our first time in Lebec/Frazier park. Prior years we visited Big Bear and Desert Hot Springs. The weather here was actually nice. We thought it not but it wasn't. Very comfortable weather. We had a total of 8 families and the bedroom fit just right where every couple had a room and our young girls all fit in one room and the boys in another. The young people really enjoyed the fame room. The bunk beds is located just next the game room. The pool was nice and is indoor. Little too cold for us older folks. But our young teens had a good time swimming. The front driveway in front of the game room was large enough for us to set up our own portable pickleball net. The kitchen was a little small but we were still able to cook up good meals. We ran into some issues with the BBQ grill. It was dirty because the prior renter did not clean it. And the propane was empty. I texted Sam and he got back to me within 30-40 minutes. Then in about 60-70 minutes, some one came by to bring us both a new propene and a new brush to clean the grill. We were very appreciative of the fast response from Sam. Our BBQ turned out great. The patio of the BBQ area was well equipped with picnic benches that accommodated all 24 of us. Like any older vacation homes, there are some area that could be improved, But overall, a wonderful place to have a family or friends gathering. We give it a thumbs up. Thank you Sam."
