"Hotel Staff were amazing. Restaurant staff were great, food was good, but ‘fresh’ produce should not come to the table frozen. "

Stoke Beach House - Hostel

8.8 out of 10, Excellent, (34)
"Lovely hostel in a great location -- especially enjoyed the curtained beds which made sleeping easy and great breakfast! Generally good cleanliness, although did see a cockroach in the hallway one evening. Also, the rooms did get really hot in the evening and it was hard to bring the temperature down, but if you don't mind a toasty room it wasn't too bad. "

"The location is great, 1 block from the beach. There is no A/C. Ok for most days with a cool ocean breeze. Had a record hot spell for 2days, 85F and so a little warm at night"

Boardrider Backpacker & Budget Motel
2.0 star property

"Loved the classic hostel feel and intense walkability and beach access. The facility needs some repairs, but if you're young and traveling and need an inexpensive place, perfect. It's loud, but no more so than any other hostel experience. I felt a bit too old to be there at 29, but then again I'm fairly low key and wasn't keen on the party life."

Notably the value of the deposit is below the interest of credit card companies and as such I feel I have lost or had stolen $30 for a key which was returned to the "returned key box" in reception. Granted a minor thing, but the weekly rate for this place kept increasing and for a property without A/C and very limiting facilities which needed...
