APA Hotel & Resort Ryogoku Ekimae Tower

4/10 Poor

"If you want to swim in the rooftop pool, make sure you visit between early July and early September. It’s not open for swimming for 10 months of the year despite being 30°C outside! The rooms are tiny, with nowhere to unpack your case, you must leave them under the bed and open them each day to access their contents. The bar only has three tables and if they are occupied, they won’t serve you!"

"Incredibly beautiful artsy hotel with comfortable lobby , huge selection of delicious food at breakfast including western and Japanese options, with very big rooms for a Tokyo hotel (we were 3 people and had so much space!), loved the beds and shower/tub combo, 3 min walk to metro station (which is about 45 min metro ride to main Tokyo attractions), attached FamilyMart in the lobby, in a quiet safe area of city without much to do nearby . It was simply perfect for what we needed and I’m so glad we stayed here with these spotlessly clean and modern large rooms rather than in a tiny one in a more busy location"

"We stayed for 4 nights which was great. The staff are very helpful and able to speak English very well. The amenities are kept very clean and tidy, plus there are plenty of toiletries and other products available in the lobby for free to use during the stay. There was an ice machine and vending machines on our level to use, ice is free, but vending machines were paid, although very cheap prices. The rooms are small but this is very typical of Tokyo hotels. The room was in excellent condition and very clean too. Small fridge but was good enough for us. The bed was comfortable, but pillows were not the best, I found out later you can get more or different pillows. The whole stay was fantastic and the hotel location was perfect to access the train and to walk around to most areas of Shinjuku. I would stay again for sure"

APA Hotel Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae

"The staff spoke English and were very helpful. The hotel is in a great location. It’s in Asakusa but just outside the madness. Kappabashi is around the corner, Ueno station/park is walkable. An easy walk to the Sumida River. Just outside the entrance are a great cafe, bakery, Izakaya, and a yakitori stand!"

SOTETSU GRAND FRESA TAKADANOBABA

"This hotel is very conveniently located. The staff is lovely and very accommodating. Our room was impeccably clean and rather small, typical for Tokyo. But the way it was laid out, with a sliding door between the sleeping area and the shower/toilet/sink areas (all separate) provided privacy. So the room being small was not a problem. Beds were comfortable, A/C was great. Breakfast (included in our reasonable room rate) was AMAZING. We chose the Japanese selections rather than the western choices, and everything was fabulous - tamago, udon, different types of vegetables, yogurt with toppings, fresh fruit etc. Don't hesitate to book this hotel!"
