Miyama Ouan offers an authentic Japanese cultural experience in beautiful high country/alpine location. Meals were of a variety of ingredients, delicious and always beautifully presented. Miyama Ouan rooms are very comfortable, warm, beautifully cleaned, with private and public onsen. The Hirayu location is in close proximity for bush walking, sight seeing, and to the cable car and bear ranch.

Wow this was such a highlight of our trip! Def wortg the trip! The onsen was amazing,the rooms were beautiful ,the dinner and breakfast experience delicious,and the staff super sweet. One thing to note, this is about an hr bus ride from Takayama station! We cut it really close because we didn't realize how far it was, if you get there after a certain time,they can't serve you dinner so plan accordingly

Ryokan Sansui is a peaceful retreat with beautiful mountain views, private outdoor onsen rooms, and the most dedicated, attentive and kind staff. This is a hotel in the middle of mountain in Hirayu area. Above the cleanness, comfort level..... I stay there couple of days. The hotel staff pick me up to bus station in Hirayu (5 Km away). I saying that the hotel does not have any officially shuttle program. They are go out their way to help me catch up with the bus schedule so i do not waste my time of bus station for waiting. And most importantly i have enough time to visit Kamokochi national park. I really appreciate the altitude...

We lived our stay at this very authentic ryokan like hotel. The staff were generous and kind, we were able to book the private onsen for a very reasonable price to accommodate our tattoos and our family going together. The half board was delicious. This is not a luxury stay so much as a real Japanese cultural experience and we had a great time as a family of four USA folk with teens.

We stayed here two nights while traveling to kamikochi and shinhotoka ropeway, the staff were super sweet and spoke English and Japanese! There is no restaurant on the property but they have a map of a few within walking distance! The Onsens were so nice, and the rooms were so clean! Would definitely stay again!

This was by far the best place we stayed during our time in the Kamikochi area. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, every member of the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Easy check in.

This ryokan is the best location in Matsumoto! Along with being beautiful and super clean, you literally walk out the front door and you’re on an idyllic street with restaurants and shops. It’s also walkable from the train station, and a short walk to the castle. If you’re looking for a traditional ryokan, this is it! The host also speaks great English and is very helpful if you need anything.

From the very start to the very finish of our stay, my family and I felt so very welcomed. The hotel was extremely clean and orderly. This particular hotel is very cozy. The onsen bath/ ofuro was extremely relaxing, clean, and refreshing. The staff are above and beyond professional and extremely courteous. We will definitely come back to stay at this hotel. We highly recommend this hotel after a long day of hiking and sightseeing.

Coin laundry washer was free and dryer was 100 yen for 20minutes. That was great. it was great to have free ice cream after going to the onsen! Location is very convenient and near shopping and the castle.

Quiet and peaceful in the mountains

The room was clean and quiet. The hotel was close to the Matsumoto station. The breakfast was super delicious.
