During our recent stay in London at Taj 51, we had a fabulous visit - attentive and friendly staff, an impeccably clean suite, and wonderful food. We have visited Taj every year for the past five years and continue to be impressed. This visit, however, we will remember for the events after our visit ended.
When we sadly left Taj we moved to the Trafalgar Square area to a different hotel, and the horror started. Our assigned room was dirty, dated, and the toilet didn't flush. We immediately asked to be moved to another room, but the front desk said no rooms were available. We said the toilet didn't work and they sent three men who stood around while one of them tried to fix the toilet, resulting in a temporary fix. This was unacceptable. My wife was especially furious. She cried on the bed and wouldn't talk to me. I suggested we head for the bar across the street to strategize what to do next. Desperately I called Taj to try to save my marriage. The reservations agent gladly welcomed our return to Taj and asked us to arrive immediately.
With our spirits lifted we left the bar and exited the terrible hotel. Arriving at Taj a concierge and bellman were waiting to carry our luggage to our suite along with my wife, her faith in humanity restored. We luxuriated and were pampered for the next 5 nights, enjoying the superb staff, service, food, and suite. We are forever grateful for the Taj team coming to our rescue. The rest of our stay was excellence. We will return very soon!
