My husband and I arrived on Thursday afternoon after a leisurely late lunch at the Russian River Brewery in Windsor. Our 30-something son and daughter joined us the next night.
We all loved the serenity of the forest setting and the spacious deck and seating from which to enjoy it. We spent our mornings in the Sun porch drinking coffee and watching the wildlife, catching glimpses of deer sampling the apples and pears, and lots of birds splashing in the waterfall pond.
The kitchen was well-stocked with spices, flour, condiments, dishes and cookware. We brought our own coffee and sugar to start our days.
The Zen Retreat has all the amenities reflected in the property description. The house has seen a lot of history, but it has been nicely kept up and is very comfortable.
Downtown Guerneville is just minutes away. On Saturday we enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner outdoors in the Garden at Boon Eat and Drink and afterward bought some hand packed specialty ice cream from Nimble & Finn’s to take home for later.
Wineries abound and the Russian River is close at hand, so we had plenty to do during our stay. We enjoyed every minute and would certainly choose to stay again.
