「Das Hotel hat eine tolle Lage, genau neben Alnwick Castle. Im Zimmer lagen Bücher mit der Geschichte des Schlosses, die man lesen konnte und sehr interessant waren. Das Frühstück war gut und reichhaltig.」

「A thoroughly enjoyable stay. We were in room 3 which had a challenging set of stairs, no lift due to nature of the historic building. Very atmospheric place bang in the middle of the town great access on foot to all amenities. A 10 minute stroll to the Castle and the excellent car park. Breakfast was first class value. The room was spacious excellent shower and roll top bath. Bar facilities very good small outside beer garden. Plenty of Sky Ports TV screens in the bar, Saturday night there is a...

「Achtet bei der Buchung genau auf die Wahl des Zimmers. Wir hatten in unserem Zimmer kein Fenster. Dazu war das Zimmer direkt neben dem gemeinschaftsraum mit offenem Kamin (Tack Room). Das zweite Bett war leider auch sehr durchgelegen und ich habe die Federn gespührt. Der Check in ist nur von 16 bis 18 Uhr. Das Frühstück, das Anwesen an sich und die Betreiber sind Tip top. Trotz der Lage ist es sehr ruhig.」

It was quite warm so not a major problem for us but the windows needed refurbishment so they be opened or closed easily. The electric shower was very weak. 「The pictures on the site do not represent the reality of this hotel. It’s currently very run down and in need of lots of work. We stayed for 3 nights, we only had 3 towels and although we asked for more twice, were not given any and they weren’t changed during our stay. The bathroom looked new but unfinished. There was nowhere to put shampoo etc. in the shower, the floor was slippy (I bought a rubber mat for them) the toilet flush was dodgy and neither the fan or light above the mirror worked....

「Look, don't get me wrong, it's not terrible by any means. It's just that for a hotel that's trying to play at this level, it struggles with some of the basics. If you're having a short stay there's no housekeeping by default, (which they don't tell you when you arrive) but there's only a small (non-heated) towel rail, so you're going to have soggy towels on day 2. Yes, there was a (small) sign in reception saying this, but it's the kind of thing it would be good for the receptionist to...

「Quirky accommodation..food and facilities great but the hot tub was too cold to use so we were disappointed we couldn't use it as was the main reason I booked the shepherds hut..otherwise would book again」
