"Wonderful hotel which is clearly 5 star. The service by all staff was exemplary! The standard courtyard room was fabulous with a large comfortable bed. It had everything you needed and the bathroom and shower were high quality. The only disappointment was we were only there for one night!"

"Despite booking a bed and breakfast rate, there was no breakfast served in the Plough. I complained immediately and pointed out that even the welcome note in the room stated breakfast timings. I booked through hotels.com where it clearly stated that breakfast was included. And finally, I have received a receipt from the Plough that says bed and breakfast rate. "

"Quiet accommodation for good rest after a sports event I spent two nights in The Tavern in Alnwick to participate in a marathon race. The accommodation is in the centre of the town, on top of a pub, but it was very quiet, even though it was a weekend. The staff was friendly and helpful. Despite arriving late on a Friday evening, and the kitchen was about to close, they still prepared something for dinner for me, which was much appreciated after my long journey. My room (plus a separate bathroom) was small but had everything I needed – including a fridge with water and juices, a kettle, instant coffee, tea and biscuits. The bed was comfy enough for one person with lots of pillows. "

"Excellent stay at Angel Lane, the cottage was so lovely and welcoming with lovely little extras such as fresh flowers, biscuits and fresh milk. Due to work being done on the outside of the house Barbara very kindly left us a voucher as compensation. We will definitely be back, thank you. Pat & Geordie"
