The building is stunning but the hotel is looking tired and in need of a refurb. Some of the electrical sockets in our room weren’t working, while the upholstery was tattered or stained. No vegetarian alternatives available for breakfast was a disappointment, too.

8.2/10 Very Good! (515 reviews)
The sheets and bedding were of good quality and the pillows and bed were reasonably comfortable. There were only two tea bags in the room and had to ask for more. There was a consistent loud noise in our room all night long, despite us using earplugs to try to eliminate the noise, we could still hear it and therefore we did not have a great night's sleep. We thought it was the air conditioning unit but the same noise was evident when this was switched off. Next morning, it appeared that the room next door to us was a kind of store room and it seemed the noise was coming from there. Overall this was disappointing. The room itself was clean and tidy. Food in the restaurant was not particularly good, I had to send something back as it was cold, they brought back hot food instead and did give us a discount on the food as it was very disappointing. Next morning, I explained to reception about the noisy room and they did give me a small discount for the inconvenience which was kind but still did not help that we had a restless and pretty sleepless night. Overall, I wouldn't choose to stay again. We had a junior suite which was just okay.
