Great place

This was a nice place tucked back deep into the woods. Close proximity to blowing rock and downtown Boone. Great for a couple looking to keep it low key. Not suitable for handicap or people who do not do well with stairs.

Beautiful secluded property!

My Sons and I had a wonderful stay at “The Big Rock” property. We woke up to deer eating the crab apples every morning. The large rock is a perfect place to just sit and enjoy the pond and scenery. We caught plenty of bluegill and a few small bass in the pond. There was also a little pontoon and kayak the kids had a blast using. We will hopefully be returning soon. Lance was by far the best Host I have ever encountered. Anything we needed or any question were answered right away..

Great stay

Loved the place. The apartment is great for a couple. The wood fire sauna and hot tub are a unique experience. We were glad we brought some firewood and would recommend picking up 6 or more bundles if you want to use all the amenities. The lake is small fresh water pond that’s perfect for a cold plunge. It was frozen but we broke through the ice. Lance is super helpful and has definitely put some love into making this one of our more memorable stays.

Weekend at Big Rock

The natural surroundings of this property are beautiful! The pond, the fire pit, the hot tub, and just sitting on the porch having coffee. We enjoyed our stay, it was peaceful and we saw some deer in the yard. The bed was very comfy, the house was clean and cozy. This is the perfect mountain place for a romantic weekend getaway. We also were able to hike the Hebron Falls Loop which is very close to the property. Would rent again!

Peaceful and Cozy

Perfect spot for a short weekend away with the kids! They had a great time with all the outdoor amenities like the rings, paddle boat and hot tub. I enjoyed reading on the back porch.

Not what we had hoped for

There were several aspects of this listing that I feel need some clarity. First, calling this body of water a lake is a bit of a stretch. It’s more of a pond than a lake, really. We had hoped to swim but the water was murky and there were active bees nests near the dock that made us hesitant to spend any time down there. The “island” with the picnic table was a board attached to some barrels and did not seem at all safe, so we skipped that. The kayak was child size (130lb capacity) so we were unable to use it at all… We also thought there would be a check in process to discuss using the sauna or hot tub, but there was no further communication about it after the initial text on our arrival day, so that was also confusing. When we arrived, the compost bucket in the house was completely full and there were hundreds of fruit flies all over the house! I was able to mitigate the fly situation, but it wasn’t something I should have to do on vacation. Also, the grass had not been mowed prior to our arrival, which made walking our small dogs a little tricky and unpleasant. We rented this particular space because of the many features and were unable to enjoy most of them. We were also under the impression that the house was “right off the trails” which was not entirely true. I was able to find a connector trail off the gravel road, but so many trees were down that we turned back and drove to the official trailhead instead. Needless to say, we were disappointed with our experience.

Nice, private getaway

The location is remote and private, which is exactly what we wanted. We traveled with our two dogs and the property was accommodating for all of us. There are stairs to get to and from the basement apartment but they were very manageable. We were visited by 3 deer each morning and evening (they were enjoying apples from a tree in the yard) and that was nice to see. My husband enjoyed catch and release fishing and I enjoyed yoga on the big rock over the pond. Our stay was too short and the weather too warm to mess with the hot tub or sauna but I imagine they would be nice in the cooler months. The apartment itself was very clean and had all the amenities I expected.

Nestled quaint property.

This is a place you can really get in touch with nature. Location , location , location. Has a small pond right outside the door. I caught 3 small, large mouths on lures and threw them back. Hebron falls is just a short walk from this location. The owner ( Lance ) is super cool and very knowledgeable of the local area .HE was easy to communicate with. LOVED THE PLACE . Be mindful that there are a few stairs while walking to the rental.

We had a great time using the hot tub and fire pit! The cabin was very clean and had absolutely everything you could possibly need for a stay away from home, the views were great and it was such a peaceful place to vacation! Lance was great and very helpful. We will definitely be going back!

Beautiful Property

An absolutely beautiful Property inside and out. The host was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend the wood fired hot tub experience. We will definitely stay here again in the future!

Big Rock Apartment

Our communication with Lance was fantastic - he went above and beyond to make himself available during our stay. The primary reason we booked this location was to use the wood-fired hot tub + wood-fired sauna and we were not disappointed; they were heaven on earth. We had originally planned some day excursions but ended up not leaving the property because of how beautiful the environment is there - it could not have been matched anywhere else. Lance gave us his phone number and was very responsive each time we indicated that we were ready to use the hot tub and sauna. The area where the hot tub is located is completely private, in a little wooded area on the other side of the pond. It is so quiet and peaceful - we loved every second. So affordable for the amenities offered. We can highly recommend this a self-care, realignment, stay-cation dream come true.

Peaceful and Cozy Place to stay

I love the privacy of the place and it’s cozziness. It was perfect for our small family. I wish we were able to stay a little longer to enjoy the lake view and the rest of the amenities. Will surely come back sometime again in the fall. Also, will recommend this family and friends.

Beautiful Mountain get away

My husband and I wanted to take our 4 legged babies to the Mountains were we might see some snow, From the beginning to the end Lance was very eager to help us with any and all our questions as this was our first time renting with this company so I was a little nervous he put me at ease from the get go. Overall all we couldn't have been more happy with the cabin and town, we had a fantastic time and would go back again . If your looking for a beautiful Mountain get away this is the place.

Great location

Best place in nature close to things

The grounds were amazing! I took morning dips in the pond and had coffee on the patio. Lance was amazing I will definitely stay here again when I'm back in town. Highly recommend for a great getaway but you can still get to the towns quickly.... Make sure to ask Lance about the hikes you can do from the house.

Cute basement apartment, with private pond!

Wireless, Netflix, swimming hole, full kitchen, Full washer/Dryer, private entrance...ALSO worth sharing that we saw deer grazing in yard both nights we stayed. This site is near the Moses Cone park, thus easy access to hiking trails and Blue Ridge Parkway.

Lance’s nature spot in Boone

We stayed at this place in July and really enjoyed the lake nearby and hiking trails. The scenery and smells of nature were just what we needed and enjoyed hiking and swimming with our kids! The kids also fondly remember and enjoyed the unique chess set available! Lance was super nice and pointed us in the direction of a hiking trail that we will always remember and cherish the experience!

Best and unique experience of a lifetime

We went for a quiet ski weekend and got so much more. The property is one of a kind. Right in the middle of Boone and Blowing Rock. The owner really made the stay unique with a campfire in the lake and help with the sauna. We enjoyed every minute. Would 100% recommend and stay here again.

Mountain Hideaway

Couldn't believe the drive to get to this place. If you are looking to get out of town and into the mountains this is the place! It was a short hike to the Boone Fork trail which is absolutely stunning in the fall. I wish I could live here... The place itself was clean and had all the amenities we needed. Thumbs Up!

It was amazing! Owner was on site and ready to help with any needs! Probably one of the only places you will find your ownprivate lake and room to play! My daughter wont let me book anywhere else now! Also, very central to everything!
