Scenic coves, rock pools and beaches decorate this picturesque coastline. An ecological footpath leads to botanical displays and beachside cafés and bars.

Medieval towns and sandy beaches line the picturesque walking trail of the Benissa Coast. Pocked with rocky islets and green cliffs, this coastline area links the upscale towns of Moraira and Calpe. Follow the 3-mile (5-kilometer) walking trail and stop at the various coves along the way.

Expect to take roughly 1 hour to walk the entirety of the ecological footpath. Enjoy the serenity and remoteness of the Cala de la Llobella at the northern end of the walk. This enchanting beach consists of pebbles and stones, with curved cliffs and rock formations jutting into the sea.

Continue south to the stony bay of Cala Pinets. Consider staying at one of the apartments overlooking it. If you have a book, this stony cove is a good spot to stop for a bit of quiet reading.

As you stroll along the coast, you’ll reach the sandy strand of the Playa Fustera. Cool down with a swim at the beach, which is patrolled by lifeguards in summer. Enjoy seafood from the restaurant overlooking the ocean.

Swim and sunbathe here to truly enjoy the region’s hot, dry summers. A pleasant coastal breeze offsets the heat on your walk. Winters are mild and fairly wet, providing nourishment to create dramatic scenery along the coast. Finally at the end of the trail, reach the Cala les Bassetes and study the displays that provide information on the local history and vegetation.

Head inland and play a few rounds at the nine-hole Ifach Golf Club, whose course offers wonderful views of the sea and a rocky promontory. Explore the archaeological ruins of the medieval town of Benissa.

Find the coastal zone in the Alicante province in the southeastern part of Spain. Drive here and park your car at either side of the stretch of Benissa’s coastline. Among the nearby towns is Benidorm, just 16 miles (26 kilometers) southwest.
