Historic place in the very center of Avallon

Napoleon the Ist slept here during one night coming back from Elba in 1815. This historic hotel offers quiet and spacious bedrooms even if the decoration is a bit aging, bathrooms have been restaurated and are fully confortable. The restaurant takes place in a very pleasant dining room and the food is quite fine. There is a free large parking place even if a bit difficult to find ! To sum up, I enjoyed the night I spent in the place !

old style hotel

with mews transformed in charming rooms Suite for 3 meant a room on the ground floor and the double bed with own bathroom on the first floor, with narrow staircase for access - not suitable for elderly people.

Good enough for Napoleon!!

Very interesting hotel. Quirky with lots of history. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Rooms clean and comfortable. Only slight was that we thought the food could have been a little better. We did not have time to explore Avallon so cannot really comment on the town. Would he happy to stay at the hotel again if en route.

Super hyggeligt og charmerende hotel lige midt i Avallon. Engelsk talende i receptionen.. god restaurant i forbindelse med hotel. Fantastisk kaffebar lige om hjørnet. Parkering i lukket gård i forbindelse med hotellet.

Mitten in Avallon liegt dieses schön restaurierte historische Hotel. Alles top und Avallon ist ein Stopp im Burgund jederzeit. Wer gerne in historische Hotels geht, die moderne sanitäre Infrastruktur haben und sauber und schön sind, ist hier richtig. Es macht Spass.

bien douillet - absolument bien situé en ville

un 3ème étage sous de hautes combes aux poutres de chêne - oui - mais avec ascenseur et dans le bâtiment principal évitant de se promener sous la pluie, dans la cour. La cour, un joli endroit bordé de pavillons qui ont diverses destinations : suites ou salles de travail ou de conférence pour les séminaires. L'hôtel mérite qu'on s'y arrête pour une ou qq nuits. Surtout au prix proposé qui est plutôt sexy.

Fabulous little hotel in a perfect location.

We were three staying overnight last weekend. We had a three bed suite and it was brilliant. Lovely decoration, very clean, staff were very helpful and breakfast was not bad either. Such a great find in the pretty town of Avallon. I highly recommend this over the other option in the area.

Charming hotel in the middle of Avalon

We loved the hotel. Our room had an upstairs for us, and a downstairs for the kids. It was spacious, charming and really comfortable. (I actually don't think the pictures do the hotel justice, it's delightful!). And the staff are super-friendly. This was a real find. A last minute choice that was one of the most charming of our trip.

Fraai historisch hotel ingericht met historisch meubilair. Uitstekende keuken, maar wel aan de prijs. Vriendelijk personeel en ligging t.o.v. Centrum Avallon is uitstekend.

Friendly and excellent value

We greatly enjoyed our stay. The hotel has clearly passed through difficult times in recent years, and is a pretty basic 3-star. That said, its premises have retained their character, and convenience. The staff were delightful and we had two excellent dinners in the house restaurant. All terrific value: it would surely be hard to find another 3-star in the region offering a better deal. A no-frills hotel, but we'd strongly recommend using it as a base for touring in the north of Burgundy.

Week-end agréable en Bourgogne

Nuit très agréable dans un hôtel au charme ancien. La chambre était simple mais très spacieuse et surtout très calme. Personnel très accueillant. Dîner au restaurant de l'hôtel dans un joli cadre et menu raffiné malgré un problème de cuisson de la viande et un service un peu long. Petit déjeuner copieux avec mention spéciale pour le pain, apparemment fait maison.

plus jamais !

un accueil déplorable ! Seuls dans l'hôtel il a fallu porter nos valises et faire une recherche longue et incommode pour trouver notre suite. Du domaine de l'étrange, je n'ai jamais vu un tel accueil dans un hôtel de ce type.

Hôtel à éviter

Une horreur ! nous ne nous attendions pas à un tel accueil dans un hôtel de cette catégorie. Nous avons failli repartir tant la jeune fille à l'accueil était désagréable et nerveuse. Nous nous sommes débrouillés seuls pour porter nos bagages et pour trouver nos chambres. Parfaitement inadmissible dans un hôtel de cette catégorie. Nous n'y retournerons pas.

Veraltete Sanitäranlagen, schwarze Fugen im Bad, halbherzig renovierte Zimmer, kaputter Laminatboden, ständig brummende, gurgelnde Heizung/Klimaanlage (obwohl sie nicht in Betrieb war), sehr harte Matratzen, sauber. Schöner Speisesaal, das Essen jedoch kaum genießbar (das Fleisch zäh, die Beilagen verbrannt), und teuer.
