"Excellent hosts. Rooms very clean and well maintained. You need to be comfortable sleeping on tatami mat floor on a futon but it was part of the experience in visiting Japan for us. We did not try the food as we wanted to explore the cuisine in the town. Great location that was walkable to many sites and the shopping district and easily accessible to transit."

"This is a great spot in Kyoto. Tons of temples and gardens in easy walking distance. You can also walk to pontocho alley and Nishiki market easily. An area with beautiful antique shop is a few blocks away. Even if only so do shopping. The rooms were very comfortable. Well stocked with cold water and tea you can make yourself. Lovely tea set in room. Keurig coffee or tea in the lobby area for at will use. Very friendly staff. Though some members did not speak English well. Google translate...

"We wanted an original ryokan experience and we got exactly that. Staff were really lovely. If I did it again as a senior I would request a room with western beds. The tatami mat beds were very comfortable but in a few years I do not think I could get up and down easily. The room did have four chairs but there were five of us. I enjoyed the Onsen bath experience and the Japanese breakfast. Great location, close to a few local restaurants and family mart. Walkable to Ginza District."

"This is a traditional ryokan, and my second stay. First time was back in 2016 by myself. This time came here to stay with my wife. Bery friendly staff. I had a much better experience first time around, two ladies came and showed me how to change into a yukata and prepared my bed. Everything was more personal, this time they were a little busy. Too many guests. Still amazing experience. You can reserve the onsen for yourself privately. The dinner experience is a little expensive but worth it. "

"The property is outstanding and the staff are very willing to help if you are amenable to no chairs in the room and only sitting on the floor. Also the room has no shower, so you either must use shower during your private time or if you miss you time slot you have no choice but to use it during public time. For ladies two showers, so at worse you will share with one other person."

"What a beautiful experience in a real, traditional atmosphere! I loved the Owner’s philosophy of carrying on traditions by means of making it relevant for each generation. The attention to detail in the architecture, design, even the sogetsu ikebana flower arrangements, and of course, the seasonally unique kaiseki meal, was wonderful. The Yukatas and most comfortable pajamas added to the feel of authenticity and calm. "

"I love the location because you can walk to Teramachi Kyogoku shopping street. I love the clean room and the amenities. The experience was great but I didn't give it a 5 star because I was charged an extra tourist tax fee and I was curious why it was not mentioned online.
