"Excellent hosts. Rooms very clean and well maintained. You need to be comfortable sleeping on tatami mat floor on a futon but it was part of the experience in visiting Japan for us. We did not try the food as we wanted to explore the cuisine in the town. Great location that was walkable to many sites and the shopping district and easily accessible to transit."

"This is a traditional ryokan, and my second stay. First time was back in 2016 by myself. This time came here to stay with my wife. Bery friendly staff. I had a much better experience first time around, two ladies came and showed me how to change into a yukata and prepared my bed. Everything was more personal, this time they were a little busy. Too many guests. Still amazing experience. You can reserve the onsen for yourself privately. The dinner experience is a little expensive but worth it. "

"The property is outstanding and the staff are very willing to help if you are amenable to no chairs in the room and only sitting on the floor. Also the room has no shower, so you either must use shower during your private time or if you miss you time slot you have no choice but to use it during public time. For ladies two showers, so at worse you will share with one other person."

"What a beautiful experience in a real, traditional atmosphere! I loved the Owner’s philosophy of carrying on traditions by means of making it relevant for each generation. The attention to detail in the architecture, design, even the sogetsu ikebana flower arrangements, and of course, the seasonally unique kaiseki meal, was wonderful. "If you want an old old style, real Japanese experience with a lovely tatanmi room with easy access to central Kyoto, then it's great. We loved it. Very little English spoken (not a problem for us), and could be difficult to find if you don't arrive by taxi, but we really enjoyed our stay."
