This is a lovely property for couples or families, walkable to anything you’d need. 7-11 and family mart, key bus routes and the major attractions of Gion. The half board is a great experience although westerners will struggle with breakfast. The staff was fantastic.

Perfect location, close to Yasaka shrine and Hokan-ji. The Kaiseki dinner is a must-have for first-time ryokan experience! Very friendly and attentive staffs with fluent English. Bonus: Kimono rental places are just around the corner - the classic photo spots are within 5-10 minutes walk.

I truly enjoyed the attentive, kind, and professional service from the staff. I was pleasantly surprised that most of the staff spoke English, even though this was a traditional Japanese ryokan. The food, presentation, and service were all exceptional—every detail was beautifully done. I’m definitely going back!

Room was large. There is very little AC in the hallways. It took a long time to cool off the room, but then it was ok. There was no room service cleaning, we just got clean towels. If you want to experience this type of accommodations- and experience, one night will be more then enough. Location is great - walking distance to Gion district, geisha theater, etc

Wonderful atmosphere right near the heart of Kyoto. Very close access to several historic sites (Yasaka-jinja, Kiyomizu-dera) as well as public transportation. Public bath is very nice and well kept. Breakfast served was traditional and varied every day as well as delightful. Would easily recommend and would stay at again.
