Lot 46 Ski Vacations

DO NOT STAY HERE. The room I selected (screen shot taken) was not the room I was given. When the owner replied with a photo claiming that I instead booked another room, it was ALSO not the room I was given and had a much smaller window. The listing shows a full house, but the rooms are all in the basement at the back - not what is shown in the listing. By 4am my lungs were burning with the damp rising from the floor, unalleviated by the tiny non-egress (illegal) window up at the ceiling. I had to leave after 1 night (4 night booking.) The owner had a friend repeatedly call to ask me to e-transfer more money claiming that expedia would then refund the whole amount, but Expedia was clear that the owner already had the money. Again I was asked to e-transfer more money to get my "refund". Then I was asked to send a email claiming that I never stayed there, but after that email was sent, I still never received the promised refund. It's been over 2 weeks since the owner said they would get back to me and I have heard nothing. This property has several reviews like mine if you dig, but somehow they are buried in many 10 star reviews which must be fabricated - no one would give this a 10 star. This place is like a basement hostel, each door code is the room number and there is no way to lock from the inside so it felt unsafe too. Anyone there could enter any room knowing the codes are the room numbers. There were also no taxi's or Ubers available to Charlottetown.

The property consists of several old homes that have been remodelled into a hotel. We stayed in the middle home, which was probably the least attractive of the three homes. The room was OK. It wasn’t particularly well cleaned by housekeeping and there was nothing extraordinary about it. It was OK not great there was air-conditioning. The hotel offers free coffee drinks, but you have to go to the main lobby to get them in the morning. Overall, the staff was lovely and very very friendly. We had breakfast one day, which wasn’t included in our package and it was very good and very reasonably priced. It is the high season, but I wouldn’t stay there again for the price that we paid.

Dalvay has all the old world charm imaginable, great staff - Alexandra, Emily and Sarah were standouts. But that charm could benefit from some serious improvements, especially as relates to food service - an unchanging, very limited and robust (not friendly to lighter appetites); the same applies to breakfast - limited and emormous servings. No fruit bowl, upcharges if you just want a bagel, juice only if you ask for it. Since Dalvay is in a national park, you must drive miles to find other, more varied food options - and nothing nearby for breakfast. So you end up being hostage to their restaurant. They might consider offering a light bite dinner and/especially breakfast. Also, why not offer boxed lunches to their visitors?
