Location is great. Walk to everything and very safe. Hotel is old and in need of repairs. The blinds in my room, wouldn't open all the way and I only found out the 2nd day that the door wasn't closing well enough to lock when I left the room. They need new carpets and paint, although everything was clean, just a bit shabby. Breakfast is extremely plentiful with piles of pastries and muffins, but the quality is inconsistent. One day the muffins were just fine, but the next they were so dry that I didn't eat. Staff is courteous and in fairness I did not complain about the blinds or the door lock.

Second visit to DC, second visit to Sofitel Hotel. From start to finish the hotel does it right. The staff is courteous and accommodating. The rooms are spacious and clean. The food from the Opaline restaurant is fantastic!
Staying at the Sofitel made my trip to DC that more enjoyable. I highly recommend this property.

Wonderful Anniversary Stay
My wife and I stayed at the Fairmont in Georgetown for our anniversary, and we had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful, very clean, and in a great location. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and exactly what we wanted.
Everyone on the staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. They made us feel welcome throughout our stay.
We also loved being close enough to walk to Georgetown, the waterfront, and several great restaurants. After spending the day exploring the city, the Fairmont was a relaxing place to come back to.
We had a fantastic stay and would definitely return. I highly recommend this hotel.
