"Really pleasant property with charm. Booked last minute, the owner greeted us, all prepared for our arrival. The room was beautifully presented, fresh and clean. Everything worked as it should, nothing negative to say about it at all. Within 5-10 mins walk of central Harrogate, through lovely tree lines residential streets. There is on-street parking, we arrived on Sat afternoon and parked right outside. At times when there are parking restrictions the hotel will provide permits to guests....

"Very friendly and welcoming, lovely and clean. The bedroom was comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities and TV, comfy bed and en suite was very clean too. Slept extremely soundly. Breakfast was fantastic, best quality bacon, lovely sausage, couldn’t fault it! For the price it was very reasonable and only a 10-minute walk from the station. Parking permit/disc was arranged by the owner so having free parking was a bonus. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you very much."

"Last minute booking and what a great little find. Room was spacious and beds comfortable with tea and coffee facilities. Shower was pretty low pressure but got us all clean and in all we had a great stay. Location is brilliant, 10 mins walk to the beach and 15/20 mins walk into Whitby centre. Only downside is no breakfast available but plenty of places in Whitby for this. "

"Very disappointing to arrive on site a 1845 and discover that there was no restaurant facilities and no bar available for a drink. The booking confirmation stated that both were open 11 till late, but it's actually 6pm when the restaurant closes. There is an expensive shop open to buy student type food, but we didnt fancy pot noodle when we were hoping to be dining in the restaurant. Very misleading information. "

"Location on the edge of York city center was an easy walk to all attractions. Convenient for both car (large city parking lot nearby) and rail (station just across the river). We had a large room with a very spacious bathroom, all done to satisfaction."

"Large shared kitchen with excellent facilities. Single bedroom had plenty of space and in the back of the property so quiet. Doors are noisy when they close. Could have done with a bedside table and hook on the back of bathroom door for towels. So tiny things would make it perfect but this was a great place to stay."

"The Helaina is a very high standard of bed and breakfast property. We stayed in a Premium Double room on the top floor. The room was very spacious with an excellent bathroom/shower. This room is reached by 6 flights of stairs of varying lengths (it is on the 3rd floor), so not for the infirm or those with heavy luggage. The breakfast needs to be booked, but is of a very good standard. There is no parking on the premises, but the B&B can supply a 2 day parking pass for £5. You can purchase as...

"We were pleasantly surprised by this little hidden gem. The location is fantastic, parking just a street away, the room was clean and tidy. Very impressed with the quality and size of the towels, complimentary shower get, shampoo and conditioner and a well stocked cuppa tray. "

"We had a lovely 2 night stay with friends. The rooms were big & well equipped, really comfy beds & pillows. Loads of tea/coffee etc . Very quiet & very clean. Excellent communication from Lindsey who was very helpful from checking in to checking out. Would highly recommend & would book again if we were in the area. "

"We loved it here, room had a gorgeous view and the family room wa spacious. Bunk bed was a bit creakky (but our kids were probably too big for them really.) Fab locations for the northbay side where there is lots to do. Breakfast was AMAZING! "
