The family friendly atmosphere is wonderful. My kids didn't want to leave. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and huge. Dinner was yummy too. Portion sizes are big. We can't wait to come stay again. Nao San is a great hostess.

A very peaceful stay near the shrine in Fujinomiya. It was nice to have a genuine tatami room sleep. If you are a big party this could be a really great place to book all rooms. If you have accessible needs, I will say there are a number of non-uniform stair cases, unexpected changes and dropoffs throughout, but in my opinion this is to be expected in an old building like this. We showed up early (2 hrs) and the staff was still able to accommodate us and hold bags. We got lucky in this…wouldn’t recommend planning for it. This is a small hotel (possible four rooms) but a fantastic value and comfort. The staff member was very polite and spoke good English to help us enjoy our stay in Kofu. Thank you!

This was my 2nd time staying here after I adopted the woman who runs the hotel and the shop as my Japan oba last year, I remembered she loves hydrangeas so I stopped in Kamakura at Hasedera to get her a gift before seeing her because her birthday is in June. She's a very sweet and kind woman who doesn't speak English but is totally fine having conversations with translation apps. The property itself is in a great location right across from Mt. The ryokan at entrance was beautiful. The lobby and the whole lower floor was spectacular. Loved how walking inside your completely transported to a Japanese experience with bridged walkways shaped of arcs and where there was ponds underneath lthose bridges. Right before entering the onsen, on either men or women, there's an amazing walkway Japanese decorated pathway that leads to their very own and waterfall. The private Onsen was a really relaxing experience. The place is quiet and far from stores but have shared kitchen. Go to the conbini before check-in

Check in was a little sketchy, I struggled to find the right door at first and keypad. And when I got into my room, I didn't realize the door would lock behind me when I left. I closed the door to go to the bathroom downstairs and luckily I had my phone on me with my code, but if I had locked my phone in my room without my code I would've been in a really bad spot since there is no receptionist or on-site staff. This property was a treat to stay in, especially for the price. The traditional futons made for a quiet, relaxing evening before a busy day of touring Fujiyoshida. I was a huge fan of the wood floor bathroom and wooden bathtub as well. I would recommend spring or summer stays, as the traditional construction means it will be quite cold in the winter, but it was a lovely stay and I would recommend this to anyone visiting Mt. Fuji.

Our stay was wonderful. We felt so welcome. The pension was very clean and comfortable. The owner was fantastic. She made us a wonderful breakfast. We left there knowing we will surely return again!!!

Amazing modern ryokan with private open air onsen on balcony! Spectacular views of the mountains all the way to the ocean! Great service from friendly and accommodating staff serving in room meals! Large public bath in basement with sauna and free massage chairs!

Everything about our stay was perfect and wished we stayed more than one night. The food was great and truly enjoyed the experience. The open-air hot spring bath was heavenly. They picked us up from the station by the open air museum and dropped us off at Gora station in the morning. I went as a girls’ getaway, but definitely perfect for couples!

We loved staying at Mikansei! Our room was clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed ourselves in the shared spaces, including the kitchen, bathrooms, and communal areas. Our hosts, Claire and Shiro, were incredibly gracious, sharing their knowledge about the Oi river valley and Japan in general, as well as their time, and taking an interest in their guests. They gave us some great advice on making a our day trip up the valley on the Oigawa Railway even better, and invited us to a group dinner /...
