Very far from resorts and restaurants. limited shuttle service from hotel, and had several instances of no taxis being available. Not a knock on the hotel, but know you are secluded. I will stay in Grand Hirafu next time."

"The tasting menu and local wine pairing was the highlight of my stay and may also be the highlight of my 3 week trip of Japan. The quality and thoughtfulness of the dishes are complimented superbly by sommelier So-san's wonderful service and exquisite selection of world-class wine. The room and hotel conditions were good but nothing extraordinary. The main downsides are the poor sound proofing and lack of elevators for those transporting heavy bags."

"Almost perfect… except the Onsen, which is a key component of any ski holiday in Japan. The onsen was fantastic and we used it twice a day. However it was largely ruined by Chinese guests who disrespected Japanese culture - and all other guests using the onsen by getting straight into the bath without washing first. We were not the only guests who felt this. The signs and instructions for onsen use were in Japanese and English only. Need to have signs in Chinese too. "
