"The services were on the same site ( next door even) the room was cool unfortunately my wife has had a stroke and requires a warmer room The only reason the hotel did not get full marks was people or children running up and down the corridors most of the evenings - every night"

"Overall a bit disappointing. Upon arrival the car park entry and exit system was not working which caused issues. There were queues to check in. The room we had was always cold, with a broken unusable safe and a bed which had a large spring coming through the mattress. There was quite a bit of noise from weekend revellers outside which was loud even though we were on the fourth floor. The breakfast was okay but the cooked breakfast had no mushrooms. There were issues again upon departure with the car park exit barrier. I have stayed at Radisson hotels before and so my experience at the hotel in York was not how I had expected it to be. If staying in York again I would look for an alternative hotel."

"We were a group of three families (plus a dog) and the house and gardens were phenomenal. The kitchen and the secret garden were our main areas for convening. All facilities were great, and as an avid cook, the kitchen set up and equipment was top notch. "

"This place was in the perfect location, our big family (2 adults 6 kids) all had a comfortable bed to sleep in, and the host was amazing. We had a mishap that has never happened before, one of our kids broke some pretty valuable furniture and the host was so gracious and we worked something out. The pictures are spot-on. "

"A lovely peaceful location - very convenient for Harrogate and York. The property was clean with up to date decor - nice view from the sitting room window. The breakfast of cereal/croissants was a nice touch. We also found a lovely pub about 10 minutes drive away with amazing food - there were several to choose from. The owner was friendly and helpful. Suitable for a couple or a small family - there is one bedroom with a double bed, and the other with twin beds."

"Staff very friendly and helpful. Not a place to stay if you don't drive as public transport lacks availability. On a busy dual carriageway, bus stop a mile away on return journey. A long walk but doable especially in the summer months"

"Vavasour House is clean, comfortable and cosy. Our hosts were most welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The kitchen is well-equipped so we had no problems preparing and cooking our Christmas Day dinner. The beds are very comfortable. We enjoyed taking walks along the nearby river - there are numerous footpaths through the Red House Estate."
