"Had a family reunion here a few years ago and came back because that experience was excellent. Unfortunately, we'll be meeting up somewhere else next time. They now charge a mandatory daily resort fee even though this is a downtown business hotel, not a resort. In return, you get a daily credit that can only be used on property. The problem is the on-site prices are ridiculous and nearly three times the local grocery store. I would have rather had that amount added to the base price each day to not have that constant reminder of how I was being swindled by a one-great brand. Or even a resort fee that gave us literally nothing. The fact that they kept making us deal with the pressure of getting a third in value for our resort fee was the worst possible outcome. Plus, they didn't credit us back on our last day and acted like it was my fault when I raised the issue after checking out (they did concede to credit without a fight). Also annoying are the timeshare salespeople stationed right by the elevators. It's impossible to get to or from your room without going through this bottleneck, and they use is aggressively to peddle this same experience at their other properties. It's such a bad look for the hotel and embarrassing if you have guests. The staff response is a shrug and "all the hotels around here are going to do this to you". It's such a sad decline. We may just stop meeting up in San Diego altogether."

"At check in I was told to show my payment receipt to the attendant so I can exit after my cruise ended. There is no attendant - completely automated. Myself and several other people had to go through waiting in line at the check in desk to get a fake room key to get our cars out. Frustrating and easily preventable if you have a human attendant in the lot when ships come in to port."

"We had a great time, the Hotel is really beautiful. Loved the decorations and the vibe of the bar. However, when I checked in, I was not happy to learn parking was 70 per day, plus 35 amenities, and a 375.00 deposit for the room. The high price for parking and 35.00 extra a day for amenities? It was money I did not plan on spending. I feel those fees are very high and should be included when booking the room, and parking should not have an amenities charge attached when paying 70.00 a day."

"I’ve stayed at resorts all over the world. This was the nicest resort by far. Everything about it is fantastic. Service was exceptional, great location, good food, and lots to do. Can’t wait to go back"
