Our stay at the keating hotel was ok . The customer service was amazing!!! Our room was dirty dusty and super small expected more since the photos online looked so fancy and clean . The location was also great and close to all the bars .

Great staff, bad room condition
The service was amazing, we were upgraded rooms for our anniversary. The staff was kind and friendly, and we had fast delivery of ice to our room. Overall the staff is what made our trip very special, plus you can’t beat this location- it is central to downtown and a walking distance to everything. Unfortunately, the room itself was very run down, the windows were filthy and the blinds were falling apart. The white “pane” over the window was broken and did not close the entire way, making the hotel room ridiculously loud at night, and early in the morning. Additionally, the bathroom was dirty and the toilets didn’t flush, and the furniture looked worse for the ware. I don’t know if I would return to this hotel until the rooms have been renovated.
The only thing that was a bit inconvenient was no doors on the shower area. Me and my colleague were sharing a room, and it was really inconvenient for us to go into the shower and/or use the washbasin at the same time. Even if there is a curtain on the area, that would be great.
Location was great for our plans. Some staff did well while others fell short. Room next door had very loud party going all night and it was impossible to get a good nights sleep. Two complaints in the middle of the night to front desk were addressed but with poor results . Would have tried to move rooms but it was 3am. Management only removed 25$ service fee for all the trouble. I worked in hospitality industry for over 20 years and that’s not how you get people back. Keating you have hope but management in my opinion needs to smooth over guest complaints better and maybe you need some real security instead of a group of young employees trying to quiet a drunken mob.
We liked the proximity to everything in the area, the uniqueness of the room’s decor, and the front desk staff was responsive. However, the housekeeping staff lack detail and generally was inconsistent with details.
The hotel room was unsanitary and uninviting. There were holes in the walls, mold, rust, dust and dirt — nothing was clean. Wouldn’t want to step in the shower. We left immediately, were refused a refund and booked elsewhere. The Courtyard Marriott was a little cheaper per night and a million times better. The potential of double paying for our trip was preferable to staying at the Keating. The health department should check it out.
Besides the elevator sounding like it was going to break down every time I was on it I enjoyed this hotel! Great location if you're trying to enjoy the San Diego nightlife.

Loud
Unfortunately the sleek design of my hotel room was actually a painted concrete floor-- the kind people have in basements, not bedrooms. The problem is, with a bare floor and no curtains, the room had zero sound dampening elements. This meant hearing the people above me walking around when they were in their room, plus hearing the pounding bass and dj on the mic from over at Coyote Ugly. Staff eventually gave me earplugs to help with the noise, which is a poor solution to the design issue. Secondly, the vents faced directly at the pillows on the bed so the air conditioning blew in my face whenever it kicked on. Everyone who worked there was incredibly nice, but look elsewhere for a comfortable stay.
The room was sort of a locker room with a bed in it, No carpet on the floor, The shower is in the bedroom, there was a mini bar with no price list and just a few scattered items. There is a fancy espresso machine in the room but only decaf espresso? No coffee in the lobby, the room keys would only work once and then you had to go down to the desk to get new ones. Glass ware in the room was spotted and dirty. TV and light switches were overly complicated, no reading lights on the night stands so you would have to get out of bed to turn off the lights if you were reading before bed...
Weird place....and not in a good way!
We arrived early and attempted to check in early but they were completely sold out and had no room to put us up in. We did have a walking tour of the Gaslamp district that was going to start soon and take until mid afternoon. the front desk staff graciously held our bags until our room was ready, upgraded our room, called us to let us know that the room was ready and our bags were already in the space, helped us with directions, and were wonderful and quick at check out. Thank you Keating Hotel Team!

Meh.
Service was pretty solid but that was the only real plus. Windows didn't operate properly so closing the blinds to the room were near impossible. We also had a handful of pantry moths in the room, a couple of which were smashed on the bed under a heavy throw. The floor looked fairly clean but was obviously dirty if you set foot on it barefoot or in socks. Tv is set up so you can't bring a roku or firestick. The hotel did a good job making the street noise bearable, but my God could you hear every word of your neighbors conversation, and the steel countertops plus the thin walls make everything your neighbor does annoying. I wouldn't recommend booking here at all if your a lighter sleeper or easily annoyed cause you'll have a rough night 100%. If you just want a convenient place to pass out at 4-5 am after a night of drinking that checks a lot of the boxes this place is fine. Staff seemed to respond quickly to my concerns.
We arrived 2 hours early for check in, my daughter had an interview for a residency at the University of San Diego a little boy. We needed to get into the room as soon as possible. A manager or viewed with me and raised his voice was very unprofessional and charge me $50 to get in to the room to hours early. The room is already in the hotel was not in Pasadena they have vacancy. He still insisted and 14 $50 to check in to hours early. He put us in a room Overlooking a roof with air conditioners in the trash was under an hour window and every morning at 5 AM the trash truck came and was very very loud. We paid for a Cityview that we did not get it. The room was not very clean. We came back one day at 3 o’clock after leaving early in the morning in our room was not clean they skipped it. The gentleman at the desk were very pleasant the manager named Jeff was very very rude and unprofessional. Will not stay there ever again.
Front desk employees were always very kind and welcoming. Our room had water run on the floor after each shower. Our shoes got wet even though they were near our bed.
I stayed at this hotel once before last year and although the carpet in the elevator was dirty mainly Staind Everything else was great. The staff was especially helpful, courteous, and just simply Pleasant. Would definitely stay here again. the Keating hotel is very close to the Sugar Factory where I celebrated my birthday!

Not up to standard...
The room was not as according to the pictures/description.
It was missing water bottles and was quite worn out.
And a quite badly attempt to be premium...
Wonderful hotel, wonderful staff. Great location and quiet room! Thanks for a great stay! This is our second time with Keating, and we WILL stay again!
Hotel was noisy from party in bar below. Coffeemaker was fancy but not working. Front desk person was a hero and went out to get me coffee. Overall eccentric hotel but overpriced which charges $50/day for parking and extra $25 to those booking with a third party like hotels.com. Hotels.com showed this $25 as a mandatory "resort fee" during booking.
Booked their top floor PH (loft) based on the image provided by Hotels.com (curved corner, floors Covered by rugs).
They gave us a room that was nothing like the published on. I’ve tried to object but they seemed ready to such complains (like, you are not the first guest... etc) and pointed fingers to Expedia/hotels.com etc.
basically a misleading and faulty post.
It didn’t ruin my weekend in SD but definitely shaved a tad from what could have otherwise been an amazing weekend.
PS. They don’t have parking. valet for $48

nice room but very thin windows
Nice room but the windows are so thin that music from the clubs were blaring and cars were honking until 3 am!!! Barely got any sleep on my vacation even with ear plugs! Do not book a room there if you are a light sleeper!
