"Was initially given a room with partially completed maintenance and a door that did not lock. Had to move room which was much better. Overall the Grand Hotel needs some serious TLC and is currently not so grand. We wouldn’t consider it good value for money."

"For an older property, you will expect some flaws and these are generally minor overall. The entrance, stairs and communal areas are well presented, were clean and smelled clean. The room we were in (203) was in a good condition overall, but was showing its age in some places. The windows are painted closed, but are single glazed, so transmit all outside noise. The curtains do not fully block out of the exterior hotel lights (which are on all the time from what I could see) The rail in the wardrobe was on the floor of the wardrobe as an ironing board and desk fan had been stored in there. The bedding was clean, but there were blood stains on the actual pillow itself. A great hotel for its location and price point however. Have stayed here previously and would stay again. "

"It’s definitely a get what you pay for type of stay. I arrived quite late in the evening, wanted to just settle and sleep but when I entered my room, there was no bedding, pillow cases or anything for that matter. To be fair the staff member was extremely apologetic and made up my bed for me, but it’s a simple thing to check when you know you have bookings, toilet roll was sparse and no one seemed to be on the front desk to ask, I had a small circle of soap as no shower gel or shampoo was provided. The beds comfy enough and if you want a bed to stay in, it’s probably the place, but if you’re looking for glam and wowness, probably don’t. The staff do remind you that the lift is small and can only fit one person, which is accurate. It definitely needs a touch of love and just some attention to detail such as checking rooms are ready for when people are staying, which you think would’ve been done as the check in isn’t until 2pm. Overall, I probably wouldn’t stay again, but it was a bed and somewhere to sleep"

"Room was really quirky, lovely comfortable bed and crisp linen. Receptionist on Sunday morning was lovely and the guy on night duty was a star ( sorry can’t remember there names). Great location too."

"The Inn was a refreshing change from the usual hotel room in the usual hotel, and I'm glad i stayed there for two nights. First, the good. Ten rooms. A bar downstairs. The room was spotless, and the bath appeared to have been rwcently rehabbed. Everything worked well. The rooms are on the second and third floors, reachable either by stairs or a two person lift. The lift of course, a boon for those with luggage. The location of the inn was, for me, optimal. A ten minute walk from the train station, a similar walk to stairs, and more getting you down to the South Beach. A breakfast at no cost is served from 8:30 for about 90 minutes on the first floor. Coiked to order. Standard Brit breakfast fare. Well done. Kudos to the cook/wait person Now to the other: Internet access is to 'the cloud', where you must have a (free) account. The issue was that for the durtion ofthe stay, access was spotty. Youd get logged off after loggin in repeatedly and just s often not able to login. This is easily fixable, and not rocket science. Secondly, while there were plenty of pillows for the bed, they were hard. New pillows, please. And, thats about it. Fix those items and Bob's your uncle!"
