I did not find the restaurant for other meals suited my taste but that is an individual matter. There were not enough vegetables for my liking. My first room was hard for me to navigate but I was moved to a very satisfactory one. The car park and the lift were selling points for me initially but I have become comfortable there, so will be back, barring accidents."

"I loved this hotel. Excellent staff and a very comfortable bedroom with a four poster bed to the front of the property. The guest lounge with its roaring fire was very welcome after a long day. I would have liked a lined blind or curtain for the bathroom which could have provided more privacy from the road. Parking here is a real bonus and the buses for the city centre stop are just a short walk away. I would love to revisit this hotel when next in Edinburgh."

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Alexander Guest House. It was clean and well upkept with large rooms - 12ft ceiling, even! It's in a beautiful and green part of Edinburgh and is nearby several bus routes, a 15 minute walk from some shops, restaurants and tourism attractions. It is also a 30ish minute walk to Old Town. We didn't see anyone else there during our stay, so I can't comment on the staff. There was a kettle provided but it was difficult to fill from the bathroom sink. Maybe there was a kitchen elsewhere in the building but I didn't explore. The bathroom was nice, clean, and well appointed and the beds comfortable."
