Tokyo (TYO) to Los Angeles (LAX)
9/10 Wonderful! (426 reviews)
Our experience at the hotel was great! Mini romantic getaway. The staff was awesome! Kind and genuine. Everything was almost perfect, except for:
1. Not receiving the room I had reserved. After the valet guy helped us move in our belongings, he noticed there was no iPad for controlling of the lights (not a big issue). But after following up for us, they then offered us another room that had an iPad and happened to be exactly the room we had been anticipating. I was about to talk to the front desk when this opportunity came up, so, it worked out on it's own.
2. One of the chairs by the "mini library" was dirty; crumbs in the crevices. And the rug was pretty stained by the main table in the living room.
3. We found two spiders in our stay. One which bit my partner. I mean, insects are insects, but it was a surprise to find two. One we could ignore, but two, we were like, "alrighttt what's going on here"
4. We asked for ice at night around 1030-11pm. I first asked if there was an ice machine. They said no, but that they could send some ice up from the restaurant. Time passed and no ice ever showed up. We can surpass that but there was no other way to cool down some water or drinks considering their mini fridges are only for their resaled beverages.
Overall, it was a nice getaway.

7.8/10 Good! (1,096 reviews)
Stayed for 4 nights, was quiet, was next to a main road but it was ok. You have to request to clean the room, I would think that would be a given. Overall I would stay here again.

8.4/10 Very Good! (1,244 reviews)
Overall, I would say my stay was pretty average. Pros: This property is very close to Downtown Disney & Disneyland. Customer service is very friendly. Cons: The property does look a bit older & not as modern. parking spaces are pretty tight, however there was a lot of spaces. I had issues with no running water for about an hour when I checked in (boiler issues no one mentioned at time of check in). My room phone also did not work.

7/10 Good! (1,009 reviews)
The Hollywood Hotel was very convenient for our first trip to LA without a car. It was clean, had a beautiful pool area and courtyard, and was close to the Vermont/Santa Monica Metro station. It was only 15 minutes away from West Hollywood by subway, and it was easy to get to the Hollywood Bowl and Dodgers stadium using transit or Uber.
The neighborhood north of the hotel is pretty safe, as it is mainly a medical district with a couple of major hospitals. We walked it at night with no issues. However, the neighborhood deteriorates quickly if you walk south on Vermont beyond Santa Monica Boulevard. There is a complex with a Rite Aid, restaurants, AM/PM, and a seafood market/grocery right at the corner of Vermont and Santa Monica that’s safe to walk to in the daytime.
Only issue was getting good coffee in the morning. The bistro has an espresso machine, but the staff are overwhelmed by the breakfast crowd, so you can wait a long time. They should have self-serve drip coffee available for guests. Fortunately, there’s a good coffee shop just steps away south on Vermont called De La Tierra. Highly recommended.
For a hotel in this price range, it was very good value. We’d do it again!

Nice room, poor service, good but small pool
"Great room, nice but tiny pool. Really good food, but crowded and not well prepared for the volume of people. Employees not friendly. Hotel seemed unprepared for guests. Not enough towels, food, clean silverware, etc. but the room was clean and lovely. Location is better than some in the area, and ..."
