"Hotel is in a 200-year-old formerly private residence. Has many original features, which give it a unique character missing from more conventional accommodations. This can sometimes pose a problem, particularly the lack of an elevator for older clientele. Our room on the 3rd floor facing the park and restaurants required walking up 54 steps. "The hotel was an excellent choice for us with great staff! The area boasts fantastic restaurants within minutes away. Don’t be put off by the graffiti in the streets. We felt safe and comfortable. "We really enjoyed our stay at the Altar Suites. The property is situated in a very central area and offers spectacular views of the major historical sites. We were greeted by the friendly staff and they were all very enthusiastic and polite. We definitely recommend this property. "

"Location of the property is in an alley so a big van or shuttle would not be able to drop you off directly. The property is center of a lot of bars and restaurants. The only issue are the elevators. It's small (can fit 1 person and 1-2 luggage at a time) and it can take awhile to get down if you have a lot of luggages. Overall the staff is very helpful and friendly. I would stay here again."

"Some other reviews have mentioned it is in a seedy neighbourhood, only if you went looking for it. The Suites are ultra clean, modern and safe. Added bonus's are many lovely bars, cafe's, and the hop on hop off bus is just across the road."

"We were only there a short time, late check in then up early to catch our flight home so we did not see what the community had to offer. Free shuttle was a bonus but on our arrival could not find them so more detail would have been nice in any of our communications prior to us getting there. We did not know what to look for. Building itself was loud, could hear the other guests coming and going quite well. But it was clean and had what we needed for our very short stay. "

We were warned by our cab driver who dropped us off after a cruise that the area was not good and we should not be walking after dark.
