The front desk gent (manager? owner?) is a total class act - very much cares for his guests, looks after them - a true delight. There are large and small rooms - the small ones overlook the parking area to the rear, and are quieter; the larger ones overlook Judah St and the street cars/MUNI - we personally love its sounds: shades of Manhattan. We've stayed at a couple other nearby places - but the Ocean Inn is by far...

"Great location, comfortable, and easy check-in! Always a reliable, safe place to stay. Judah Street Muni Train runs out in front during the day. Very convevient for tides down the line (i.e. Restaurants, Haight Street and Downtown) Coffee place (Java Beach) is next door, Ocean Beach Access is across the street, and it's only a few blocks to Golden Gate Park. "

"Loved this place! Perfect location, size and layout plus so many modern additions like Google TVs and hub. So much attention to detail overall. Will definitely stay here again when Im lucky enough to get back to SF! There's only one very small critique and that's the shower water pressure could be a little stronger but it was sufficient as is. "

"I have stayed here for 20 years, it was The Opal and it has been gorgeously remodeled but has all the things I love before. In and out enclosed parking, Mel’s Diner attached so food mostly anytime, comfortable beds👍, conveniently located at Van Ness and Geary Street so Ubers and cabs etc are easy. Tommy’s Joint an SF favorite for great food, beer and cocktails across the street. And a big movie theater practically next door. Very reasonable price for how nice it is now."
