Roissy-en-France is just a short drive from bustling Paris and next to the well-connected Charles de Gaulle International Airport.  The town’s population is fewer than 3,000, but it has many hotels and restaurants that cater to the thousands of people who choose it as a stopover each year.

Stretch your legs with a stroll around town. The village square, Place du Pays de France, and parks are nice spots to relax. The historical town hall, called La Mairie in French, is the most significant building. The modern L'Orangerie is the cultural center and has art exhibits and performances in its theater.

Various notable churches are nearby. Royaumont Abbey to the north is from the 13th century, while St. Denis Basilica, closer to the town center, is a model for Gothic architecture.

If you’re traveling with children, head to Parc Astérix in nearby Plailly. This large amusement park is based on the cartoon adventures of Asterix and Obelix and has dozens of rides and shows.

As the evening falls, head to the local restaurants and bistros for classic French cuisine. There is no nightlife to speak of, so if you are looking for entertainment, head to Paris for countless options. The Metro line to Paris is in the airport, which is only a short taxi ride away from Roissy-en-France.
