"The room we picked was not very large but was clean and comfortable. Room was not with an ocean view. The whole boutique property is facing Playa Bonita which is an amazing beach. Restaurant food was delicious and staff was hospitable. We would definitely stay here again. "

"Absolutely extraordinary venue with spectacular views from every corner. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. We took a room for 2 adults and 1 child. It was plenty large with freshly supplied towels everyday. I didn’t get the purpose of the small pool in our balcony as we barely used it. But we definitely enjoyed the main pool and the beach pool. The food was amazing. Definitely loved trying out the local food and the seafood. The wellness centre was also wonderful. Loved taking some of their sessions. Also tried out the spa and that was wonderful. A shout out to the wonderful staff serving and cleaning and advising guests of the facilities and events for each day and you definitely know this place caters to families as it has a good kids’ menu and a children’s activity centre - El Conuco - the lovely Yine does a lovely Cassava workshop. She went above and beyond keeping our little one occupied with activities schedule. Special mention to our ambassador Rafaela and Amstar Berny Green who organised our tours to Limon and Los Haitisses. "

Amenities & Staff: The staff across all departments (drivers, servers, and entertainment) are supportive and professional. The beach at Portillo remains a top-tier feature for its calm, pristine waters. Areas for Improvement: The rooms are the primary drawback; they are functional (hot water and comfortable beds) but look dated and are prone to maintenance issues like AC leaks. Additionally, guests should be aware that on-site convenience stores carry high markups. Verdict: Highly recommended for families or groups seeking a cost-effective, high-service escape in Samaná, provided you prioritize amenities and location over modern room decor."
