We took numerous pictures on arrival, but this place was filthy inside and out. We bought batteries for all of the remotes that we could identify/match to equipment. None of the remotes were labeled and all were in a pile on the seating bench they use as a coffee table. The garbage can was broken- even the housekeeper could not fix it, but we repaired it the next day. The garbage can lid would not close, nor would the pedal to open it work. There were pistachio nuts wedged in the hinge and the lift mechanism had been knocked loose so it would not open with the pedal nor would it close. Unfortunately, the host has not labeled remotes, nor provided instructions for the gaming system use, so there was lots to figure out. There were no instructions on how the remotes for the TVs worked, a missing remote for the DVD player. The quality of furnishings, and sheets, etc seemed to be very low quality- the sheets don’t even fully wrap around the mattress. The door knob battery crapped out on our last night and the lock box for the manual key would not open. Maintenance came out to unlock the door but we didn’t want to keep the key as we were planning an early exit before the office would have opened. Everyone in the office was kind when we called in, and we never asked for reimbursement or a discount due to the issues- EXCEPT for Austin. Austin advised us the dirt was just normal, never having seen the pictures of what we encountered. When we called about the lock not working on our 6th day, he asked what steps I had taken to open the door lock. I said we used the same combination we had used for the previous 5 days, and his answer was… you have to use the right combination! He was disrespectful each time we had to deal with him, and did not attempt to resolve any issues. It turned out the lock really was broken, as was the lock box that had the physical key. As a customer or guest I would just like to have concerns addressed politely and not have someone assume I’m an idiot or a pest. I can understand things going wrong on a stay, but I can’t understand having to argue over issues we encounter- especially when you’re not willing to look at pictures to attempt to understand the exact nature of the concerns. This cabin would be such a sweet getaway for a couple, but it needs a thorough cleaning inside and out and much more comfortable furnishings and new soft goods like throw rugs and linens/towels.
