We were travelling to Baddeck when a powerful storm hit the Maritimes on September 5th. The provincial government declared a local state of emergency in Victoria County (and a couple others) in which Baddeck is situated and people were advised to stay off the roads unless travel was for health, safety, or emergency purposes.

「Customs House is in an impressive old building just on the edge of the downtown area. Rooms have very high ceilings, fabulous trim and a grand (nonworking) fireplace. Very much enjoyed my 2 night stay there and would return again. There was no contact with staff but the check-in was smooth.」

「We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite, knowing full well its just a nice big room, with king-size bed. Loved the charm and history of this building, that was once owned by the Yatch club we overlook as well as ocean tide ciing in and out! Bonus! The huge outdoor patio, had furniture, made from lobster traps was really unique! The eclecticly furnished, clean room, with fridge was very cool. 「I was an Expedia VIP customer for the first time. Serge greeted me and assisted with getting me a welcome treat. Soft towels, jetted tub. Pleanty of hot water. Quiet room. Plenty of lighting. Large lot to park in.
The only con is there is no level parking for motorcycles. Something they could improve on another otherwise amazing place.」

「The owners have obviously poured a lot of time, effort and love into the property. Breakfast was superb, with everything from egg bites to prosciutto and yogurt, and many things gluten-free.
