"breakfast was good. Standard egg choices. They could have added pastries. Fresh fruit was delicious. Elevator needs replacing, its in bad shape. Room was very bare. No chair, no hooks to hang up clothes, no closet, old furniture. Bathroom had a weird smell. Staff was very good. "

"Absolutely great value!! This is a beautiful little hotel in a neighbourhood area, away from busy traffic, and the persistent "look at my stuff" walks. One of the best parts are the staff! Hard working, friendly, and always accommodating. Cathy George and David at the front desk are always ready to help, give advise or recommendations. The included breakfast is simple, and always fresh every morning. There are cafes a short walk away for alternative options. We had a room with two queen beds that was very clean and spacious. We also had friendly visits from Lucas, the local house dog. Cute and friendly. Never barks or begs. Just wants attention. The pool area is nice, always clean, and while not heated, the sun does a great job of this by late morning. There is a beach area by UVAS you can arrange a day at, with transport and all inclusive. Most everything else is within a 15-20 minute leisurely walk. Restaurants, shopping, bars, etc. Barbara, the tour operator on site is more than happy to assist with whatever you need to reserve, from tours, taxis, rental cars, scooters, diving, and so on. We enjoyed the quiet. The home-like comfort and friendliness in a pretty setting. "

"The room was clean, bed comfortable. Nice view, though more obstructed than I expected. The staff were very annoyed- I didn’t feel particularly welcomed. Even at checkout, there was no conversation about how our stay was. When I asked for things like an extra blanket I was met with annoyance. The bartender was nice, when she was around, which wasn’t much. No washcloths provided, which I found odd. It is very very loud at night which is to be expected downtown, and to be fair the door kept the noise pretty low all things considered. I wouldn’t go back mostly bc I felt awkward the entire trip and I even speak Spanish so it’s not like I expected anything crazy in terms of communication. I still wonder if it was cultural expectations based on an American hotel. They weren’t hostile- but they were not accommodating. If you want to be downtown with easy access to everything- and a clean hotel with a decent breakfast, this is a fine choice. "

"I had a beautiful view of the ocean. Everything was convenient, with a 7/11 right next door. I had a lovely time and it didn't break the bank. I was very satisfied with my stay."

"Lovely hotel for relaxing and exploring Cozumel"

"Hotel Mary Carmen is a beautiful hotel which exceeded our expectations! Location is safe, quiet, very walkable (5min from the ferries, 1min from the plaza), and easy to find upon arrival. We loved the old-fashioned style with shared living spaces, and the garden and turtles. We appreciated the free water refill jugs on each floor and the first aid kits free for use. Our room was large (we got a free upgrade) and clean, had great wifi, quiet and functional AC unit, tidy bathroom, and good water pressure. There were extra blankets too, and hooks for hammocks if you have one. We had a little trail of ants along the wall, but they stayed on their path and never bothered us at all. Around 8am it became a bit noisy since we were right beside the breakfast kitchen, but otherwise it was always quiet. Breakfast was lovely in a dining room and patio, with pancakes, omelettes, toast, fruits, cereal, milk, juice, coffee, and tea. The kind man at the front reception (Miguel) was amazing, and provided help with booking a great snorkel tour, confirming taxi prices, recommending local beaches based on our interests, finding a solution for our faulty in-room safe, and providing free beach towels every day. Overall we loved the safe location and authentic feel of the hotel, and would absolutely stay again."
