"This place was absolutely awful. We booked this hotel because our previous booking was cancelled and the hosts lied to us about why, which Expedia confirmed. This place looked so nice from photos but we experienced poor communication, bad customer service, and hazards in the room. My mother and I flew all the way from Vancouver, Canada to Luneburg so I could start a full sleeve tattoo. "Wir hatten bei ihnen ein Zimmer gebucht, jedoch konnte mein Mitarbeiter bei ihnen nicht einchecken da dieses Hotel nur für „Golfspieler“ sei. Es war nirgendwo gekennzeichnet dass dieses Hotel ausschließlich für Golfspieler sei! Meine Mitarbeiter wurden daraufhin in ein anderes Hotel weitergeleitet, wäre das klar gewesen, hätte ich nicht bei ihnen gebucht!!"

2/10 Terrible

"Reception desk is never staffed. When you get there, you are supposed to call a number, and then they will text you back. Room keys are in an unlocked box. If someone grabs your key, oh well. There is 1-2 staff there in the mornings to run the breakfast and clean rooms. If something goes wrong, and it is after hours, the person that texts back will tell you it is too late, and then tells you to cancel the booking. If you ask them to handle it, they will simply stop responding. We came back to the room about 11pm and found ants going crazy on the floor. Yup, we got swiftly ignored. We were promised "someone" will take care of it in the morning, but when we talked to the staff at breakfast, it was obvious that nothing had been communicated to them. That said, the staff was very helpful, and took care of things. It is quite apparent that the "boss" runs everything remotely and is not in the least bit interested in serving their customers. The breakfast was ok the first day, but then they started to run out of things and never replenished. For example, yogurt was gone after day 2. The rooms are poorly organized. Aside from the ants, the outlet by the bedside was Also, the grounds are totally overgrown."

"We are so pleased with the Alte Kaufhaus in Luneburg.! Always coming back on our travels to the Netherlands. All Staff is super! Location very good , breakfast amazing and parking in the hotelgarage makes everything easy. Beds are comfortable and we always have a good laugh at the "!signs" in the the room. Thank you for this time - we are back in beginning July with our grandchildren. Anita"

"Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Asked for an assessable room as I use a mobility scooter. The room was ideal but we didn’t have a balcony or patio which we had booked which was disappointing. Used the pool which was quite cold and was very deep, no shallow end. We had breakfast included in our package which was continental and not to my liking but that is a personal opinion. We had 2 snack meals in the garden which were ok. The restaurant was quite expensive and the choice was limited. Overall we enjoyed our stay."
