Private Log Cabin in Goldstream Valley of Fairbanks
10/10 Excellent
"Staying at this Fairbanks cabin was unforgettable, from watching the northern lights right from the bedroom to relaxing on the deck under the glowing sky. We loved exploring everything nearby—dogsled races, the World Ice Art Championships, the UA Museum of the North, and even day trips to Denali and the North Pole. The cabin itself was incredibly comfortable, with a well‑stocked kitchen and thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. It was the perfect base for an amazing Alaska adventure."
"I was charged for a room by Expedia that I wasn’t given upon arriving at the hotel.
I was also charged by the hotel for a room as well when checking in. So I ended up paying for two rooms when I was there by myself.
I thought the 2-$192 charges were security deposits for the nights because they were pending for a few days. I didn’t realize the hotel was charging for a second room.
When I tried to get this corrected the manager won’t return calls or answer the phone. The same happens with the accounting department. Neither will even tell me they’re sorry I was charged double for the one room I stayed in.
When I called the front desk did try to help but they could only explain what happened.
The hotel is nice. I liked it, but I won’t stay ever again because I was charged nearly $400 too much for a two night stay. "
"This is a very nice hotel in the heart of Fairbanks. it has its own restaurant and breakfast bar. The gift shop was closed for construction when we were there. Staff were nice. Room has a fridge but no microvave although there is a common microwave for all guests which was very convenient. There’s also laundry services. Rooms were clean. We will definitely stay here when we visit Fairbanks again. "
"Everyone at Hampton was friendly and helpful, and the free airport shuttle is a big plus in minus 20 weather. The room was clean and comfortable, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was nice. Free breakfast was a great perk, as it would have been a chilly walk to get to another restaurant nearby. And the coffee station is always available. Hampton is also on the list of places that will pick you up to go look for the Northern Lights, so that was convenient. My main gripe: since we didn't have a car, I was looking forward to swimming in the indoor pool and using the hot tub. But the pool was not working, so they closed the whole area for all 4 days. I read another review about the pool being closed for many days and I suspect it may have been closed for a while, so beware if that's a big draw for you. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay."

"This property was an absolute delight to stay at. There was plenty of room for my family and friends and learn to play games and to watch TV together. The bedrooms were comfortable. The bathrooms were beautiful. The hot tub was so nice to enjoy and unfortunately no one took the opportunity to enjoy a sauna, but it was nice that it was there. It was also exciting to see moose in the front yard, and it was close enough to go get groceries and go to all of the places we wanted to explore. I had questions for the owners or property manager, and they were quick to respond and also to extend our stay when we needed to extend it. I would highly recommend this property if you were in the Fairbanks area. "

The views from the hillside were amazing, especially in the early morning and evening when the landscape lights up with that classic Alaskan beauty. It felt like the perfect mix of being close to nature while still having all the comforts of home. The hosts clearly care about their guests and the property. Everything was well organized, instructions were clear, and the whole experience was smooth and welcoming from start to finish. If you’re visiting Fairbanks and looking for a quiet, scenic place to stay, I highly recommend Peaceful Hillside Refuge.
