Stayed in the glamping tent with my family of four (including a 5 & 9 yr old). Such a wonderful spot - tent was comfy w/ a dedicated toilet/sink room in a separate adjacent little building. Had a wonderful fire pit which the staff lit for us in the evening at the time we requested (on our was back from dinner we texted them from their very helpful app). All amenities in the main building were super clean, very new, and meticulously curated in a minimalist style. It had (x3) private Onsen baths...

The location is a bit off-track, but the area is nice and worth a detour if you have a car. The building itself is ordinary but the room is very spacious and comfortable, with some view to the mountains and valley, and some to the next buildings. The onsen is nice though not particular. Service is very attentive and helpful. But by far the best part was the dinner (and breakfast), which was Michelin-star level, multi-course beautiful and tasty dishes.

Tyler, Mari, Andy and Mio were fantastic hosts, The kaiseki-style food was amazing (I opted for the half board; the ultimate way to go). From the moment I had walked into the ryokan, I had felt like my dreams had come true. This ryokan is the best location in Matsumoto! Along with being beautiful and super clean, you literally walk out the front door and you’re on an idyllic street with restaurants and shops. It’s also walkable from the train station, and a short walk to the castle. If you’re looking for a traditional ryokan, this is it! The host also speaks great English and is very helpful if you need anything.

This place is so authentic. It was a true gem of a Japanese experience for our family. We loved everything about it: hospitality, clean rooms, beautiful views, natural spring style onsens… Highly recommend!

Very nice family-run ryokan that's on its fourth generation. Public transit won't get you there easily- but you don't have to worry- you can call ahead and they will pick you up Matsumoto station (at 3:30 or 5:30 pm.) They will also drive you out in the morning so you can catch public transit for your sightseeing. Great food, will make you want to come back for dinner!
