"Property was beautifully equipped in the kitchen and for entertainment. The private "onsen" of the bathroom was phenomenal. It had a sauna, a cold plunge and mineral spring bath all together. Was not really convenient to town but only a kilometer out. Check was terrible as they do it all remotely and the system was down. I tried several times to check-in on their tablet. I then video called via their tablet and he couldn't do it after 15 minutes. They then emailed me 3 more times about it, a bit annoying. Check out is early and exact we were walking to the door at 10am as she was knocking on the door."

"This ryokan was one of the absolute highlights of our Japan trip. As a couple travelling with two young adult kids, it was the perfect place for all of us to slow down and recharge after Tokyo. The biggest highlight was the four private onsens — no reservations needed, yet there was always at least one (often even more) available. It made everything feel so relaxed and effortless. The ryokan itself is small, intimate, and incredibly well thought out, with beautiful attention to detail and high-quality touches like POLA amenities. If you want to experience a true traditional ryokan, this is it. There were hardly any foreigners, and the staff spoke very little English — but somehow we managed just fine, which made it feel even more authentic. The secluded setting adds to that peaceful, escape-from-it-all vibe. The food deserves a special mention — we stayed for two nights and every breakfast and dinner was completely different and absolutely exquisite. It really elevated the whole experience. We were initially concerned about having no bathroom in the room, but it turned out to be the best thing — it gave us more reason to keep going back to the onsen. Our kids loved it so much they’ve already made us promise to return on our next Japan trip. Highly recommend. ✨"

"Positives: 1: staff exceptional, friendly and helpful. 2: very, very clean and comfortable; 3. Stunning location. I think all the rooms have lake view (which is across the road). Once the leaves are out it might be more obscured, but stil have a beautiful wilderness-type feel; 4 right on the yumoto onsen Tobu bus line. Easy to get to and from everywhere on that line. Busses run every 1/2 hour or so but the last bus drops off around 7pm, so it’s not a late night; 5. Indoor and outdoor onsen: I was usually in it by myself but it was also early spring off season. The less positives: 1. no bar; 2 no outdoor sitting area (except a couple of benches); 3. While the onsen is nice to have, it’s not nice looking. Would be better to spruce it up with some greenery to hide the ugly fence surrounding; 4. No one informed us of the cafe where lunch can be served. It has a lovely porch and different menu. The dining room gets its own category: 1. The breakfast is mediocre. My least favorite part of the stay. It’s served. Minimal choice. Eggs were strange We actually ordered a boxed breakfast one morning and it was better. 2. Dinner: the food was tasty but very,very expensive for what you get. Small portions. 3. Fine dining. If that’s what you want, that is what you get and pay for. 4. There’s not a lot of choice in town, so no choice but to eat here. I would stay in Nikko and visit lake Chuzenji and do the marshland hike. Not to be missed. "

"This spot was amazing all the way around. Like others have said given that it is a journey to get to, spend at least 2 nights. It was the perfect spot to slow down and relax. The food is amazing whether in the fancy dining room or in the cafe. The onsens overlooking nature and the waterfall were spectacular. Staff member April really made our stay great given her recommendations, explaining and teaching about local cuisines offered. The service is 5 star. I’d definitely return !! "

"The Yunomori onsen ryokan was one of the best places I've ever stayed at. The Kaiseki breakfast and dinner was incredible and the staff were 10/10 amazing. We had an in-room onsen and it was perfect. The entire place was clean and incredibly cozy. I would absolutely recommend Yunomori to anybody! It's a short walk to Yuno Lake nearby and also some beautiful waterfalls. I highly recommend this place to stay in Nikko. It was a very special experience for us. "

"The room was clean and the staff were both polite and pleasant. There is a wonderful lake view lounge and an adjacent game room that you can use to spend a couple of hours away. Sadly, there is a distinct lack of amenties and stores open during winter, so please bear that in mind when you visit the area during this period. We were also unable to visit the restaurant, as we were told that we had to make a reservation in advance, which was not presented to us. Overall, it was a very pleasant visit. "
