"The hotel is very nice on the inside, but the area outside looks derelict. Also my own fault, but the area is not close to the major Nikko areas, it took us about 2 hours to get to the Kegon Waterfall, or about an hour to the Toshogu Shrine with trains that came hourly. I wanted to explore the Nikko National Park but wasn't really able to complete that part of the trip. However, if you want a relaxing trip from Tokyo, this is a great place to go. "After 7 days of busy touring around Tokyo this was exactly what we needed! Being surrounded by the lush green hills was lovely. "This property has seen better days. My single room was like a prison cell, just 1.5 meters wide. There was no view. The food was of very low quality but beer and sake were all you can drink for 70 minutes. There are no room amenities. You have to pick them up in the lobby, even the yukata. The outdoor and regular baths are on different floors which is very strange. The clientele is mostly retirees and they seemed happy enough."
