Grand Hotel Scarborough

"We had a difficult start due to stained duvet cover, missing mug and half a toilet roll. Reported but 4 hours later not sorted. Eventually sorted at just before 10pm, by which time we'd also found a pair of jeans and underwear at other side of the bed! Items were removed by staff. The next morning spoke to manager who listened and was very apologetic for everything stating not the standard she would expect from the staff/hotel and immediately offered an uograded room. The rest of the stay was very nice. We had breakfast on one morning and it was really well cooked, nice and hot and good selection. The hotel itself is located in perfect position but just needs some TLC and a shame that housekeeping let things down. Overall due to how helpful the manager Kelly was, we would now return if visiting the area again."

"Had a nice room with a sea view plenty of space - shower hot and powerful - good to have an iron and iron board. Beds comfy with charging points. Only gripe is that there was a long mirror next to the wardrobe but no plug near it and a dresser with plug near it but no mirror not very helpful for female travellers"

"Was a great place to stay for me and my son. We wanted a weekend in Scarborough but away from the main drag. This fitted that perfectly. Couple of miles from the town, but plenty of things in the village to keep you occupied if required. Few pubs, shops and a chip shop all within walking distance. The bus into Scarborough was £3 and a taxi cost was around £10. We were welcome into the property and all keys etc explained and breakfast detailed with times etc. The room was comfortable with well made beds and comfy mattresses. We had a twin room. The TV is small, but I don't really watch it so no issue for me there. Good sized bathroom with bath and electric shower and all tea facilities that you would need. Towels were super soft and changed daily if you required it. Breakfast was excellent. Cooked to order each morning when you came down with obviously fresh local ingredients. Various cereals and juices also accompanied with a nice pot of tea. Hosts were welcoming and chatty, and is a nice change from the chain type hotels. Has a great personal feel to it, quiet at night (we were on the back though). There is a lounge to relax in, but we did not use it, although looked quite welcoming. Would definitely recommend for a trip to the Scarborough area. We went for a Bank Holiday weekend and enjoyed it thoroughly. Would return in a heartbeart. Thanks"

"The room was clean and bright, the pull out sofa bed was a bit short for an adult and we weee above the kitchen which was noisy at closing but done by 10pm. Great staff, pretty location."

"Listing not accurate - Lyceum Cottage does not have a deep soaking bath. It also does not have 2 private bathrooms. There is a bathroom with a shower upstairs and a cloakroom downstairs off the kitchen with a toilet, sink and washing machine"

"Sue & Poppy the Dog were most welcoming. Tea, coffee, milk & sugar were waiting for us. Very clean & tidy accommodation. Hot tub was most relaxing . Very quiet and tranquil spot. Definitely going back next year."

"Unfortunately the restaurant was closed due to the top Chef leaving. Expedia knew this and didn’t get back in touch with me to let me know or send me an email very disappointed in Expedia .The couple who run the establishment are lovely and very helpful. Breakfast is excellent."
