"Very disappointing. The food at a ryokan is at least half the value of the experience. I have been to many ryokans from budget to luxury and by far, the food here, was the worst. Tasteless and poorly prepared. Like it came from the fridge to perhaps the microwave in some cases and then to our table. August is not a popular time to visit this area so perhaps the chef was on vacation. The room itself was pleasant. The private outdoor bath was nice. The public bath facilities were fine. "It's seen better days. Quality of the meals was disappointing. Room was spacious and clean but the property in general is tired and needs upgrading. It's a bit on the outskirts of the main part of Yamashiro Onsen but there's a bus stop across the street if you want to get into town. We took it to get to Yamanaka Onsen and to Kakusenkei Gorge."
