「My go to when working in Barrow - great accommodation and location」

「Very handy hotel as a base for the attractions of the western coast of the Lake District. Set in lovely gardens and very quiet but just off the main road between Newbury Bridge and Barrow」

「Abbey House is a really good hotel - one of our favourites. The building and its settings are very impressive and very well kept. All members of staff that we met and dealt with were friendly, helpful and cheerfully efficient. This hotel really does deserve to succeed. The only minor fault was in the restaurant where the service could be slow and the waiting staff not quite as attentive as they might be. 「Hotel is in good location. Close to rail station and verious bus stop, restaurants etc. I arrived early and my room was ready so that was great 👍 and I was really happy about it. The problem is that building is closed during the day and no one around to help if something goes wrong. When I arrived to the hotel on my second night I find out that my bathroom light is not working. Manager has sent 2 staff members but they couldn't help so I didn't have light there at all. 「The host cancelled my booking the day before I was due to book in because I use a walking stick and the room was on the middle floor. When I made the booking there was no mention on the booking page about about difficulties I may have. The reason given was not enough room on the expedia page. I was also refused a refund, which I find very disappointing as it was the host who cancelled my booking, not myself. Very disappointed allround.」

「A very old flat, like the others around, quite historical really, which has been modernised to a reasonable standard. All clean plus it had all the equipment needed, even an iron and drying rack. Disadvantage is the steep 20 concrete steps leading up to it.」

「The outside isn't pretty, but don't let that influence you. The room is excellent. It was nice to have cold water in the fridge and a piece of chocolate in the room upon arrival- nice treat, no charge. We found the bed a little hard and the room warm. The staff brought us a fan so sleeping was much better.」
