Riverside Waterfront on the Mississippi River

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway located right on the Mississippi River's Edge. Get away and relax while making family memories. Watch the barges and abundant wild life from the back deck. Boaters have nearby public access. The location is just upstream from Nauvoo, Illinois and Fort Madison, Iowa and downstream from Burlington, Iowa. This place is a nice little oasis in the quiet part of Pontoosuc.

We are a little fishing village on the Mississippi. There has been some flood damage in the adjoining neighbourhood showing various stages of rebuilding. There is also a train that goes by in the distance. I think it’s far enough away it’s pleasant but wanted to make sure you were aware.

We have a new deck with a grill and gas fire pit. We also have a place for a real fire pit right by the river. There’s plenty of firewood available for you to use.

Great place on the Mississippi River

We enjoyed our stay here. Nice views of the river with geese in the water in June. The laundry machines were convenient.

Perfect Location!

Fantastic stay! The house was in the perfect location— we witnessed a lot of wildlife while sitting peacefully on the Mississippi riverside, yet still close to everything. The host was responsive, and went above and beyond to ensue we had everything we wanted - even brought us over extra propane for the firepit and grill. Check-in and out was a breeze. Highly recommend for a comfortable, hassle-free getaway!

Right on the Mississippi

Parking right at the door was convenient when we arrived after dark. All the rooms had everything we needed. Everything was clean. Plenty of outlets for charging etc. Great view of the river from indoors. Sliding door opens to deck with steps down to the yard and right down to the water. Very quiet neighborhood.

Second time staying here, no complaints. Allowed to park boats in grass next to the side of the house. Works great for fishing tournaments on pool 19.

The location was beautiful and quiet. The host was also so kind and gracious. I have to give it less than five stars, because the drawer was broken and there were several dead bug carcasses. These are all issues easily fixed. Once they are, it will be a 5 star place. I would stay there again!

A pleasant stay

I have to admit I was a bit nervous when I pulled up - the neighborhood and outside are definitely on the “rustic” side. But this cabin is in such a gorgeous location along the Mississippi, and host has prepared it nicely and is very attentive! Plenty of blankets, towels, and pillows, and she even put out s’mores ingredients for us to enjoy. It was an absolute perfect place for our family to stay while we visited the historical sites in nearby Nauvoo.
