Cooter's Nashville

Cooter\'s Place showing interior views
Fans of The Dukes of Hazzard can get a real-life glimpse of the various props and costumes that graced U.S. television screens in the 1980s.

Cooter’s Place is a museum that pays tribute to the 1980s comedy series The Dukes of Hazzard. Actor Ben Jones, who played the character of Cooter in the show, runs the museum and store, which features all types of memorabilia and props. Visit Cooter’s Place to spot Cooter’s tow truck and the orange car bearing an 01 emblem outside the front of this Nashville institution.

Take photos of your family in front of the iconic façade of the shop. Meet Ben Jones and talk with him about his experiences on the show. He played the sidekick of the protagonists, the Duke boys.

Enter the site and view the range of photos and works of art that capture moments from the television series. On sale around the store are souvenirs ranging from T-shirts and hats to shot glasses and toys relating to The Dukes of Hazzard. Find belts, key chains and metal signs in this large store.

In the museum area, inspect the costumes and props used on the series. Check out the 1969 Dodge Charger that played an important role on the show. See Cooter’s tow truck, Rosco’s patrol car and Daisy’s Jeep.

Relive your childhood, as you piece together nearly 150 episodes centered on the Duke boys, two cousins getting up to all sorts of hijinks, to the annoyance of the corrupt sheriff.

Attend some of the events that take place in the store, including the occasional appearances of other actors from the series. The shop opens daily from morning until evening. Admission to the museum and store is free.

Cooter’s Place is a little north of Donelson, in the northeastern corner of Nashville. From the center of Nashville, drive northeast for 12 miles (19 kilometers) to get here in about 20 minutes.

While you’re in the area, make sure to see some of the other nearby attractions, including the Grand Ole Opry, Two Rivers Golf Course and Gaylord Springs Golf Links.
