Book the estate tour and enjoy the wine while wandering the garden and vineyard. Tours are limited to 8 guests and last about and hour and a half, during which you'll taste four wines, including the wonderful Estate Cab Sauv. They also let us try the grapes straight off the vine, and they were surprisingly delicious (late season - probably not so tasty earlier in the year).

Although the Chateau was built in the 1880s, the gardens and lake weren't added until the 1950s, when retired electrical engineer Yort Wing Frank bought the estate, excavated Jade Lake, and transformed the property with Chinese landscaping. Today the lake is considered one of Napa Valley's most beautiful sanctuaries.

"Excellent room in every respect -- comfort, cleanliness, quiet, spaciousness, big, recently renovated bathroom. Hotel staff are simply fantastic and went out of their way to assure our comfort. Very good continental breakfast served on a big tray directly to our room every day at no extra charge. Outdoor jacuzzi and big swimming pool are filled with hot mineral water from hotel's own well. Both indoor and outdoor facilities and furnishings are all in superb condition. Unbeatable value for money. I look forward to returning to the Mount View Hotel."
