"The front desk staff is not very friendly at this hotel. We had a leak in our sink the first night of check-in and they did not even offer to change our room. I had to request the change and they did not even apologize for the inconvenience. The hotel needs a make over, everything felt old and dirtly."

"Great property close to Times Square. Rooms are small with no fridge or microwave, but this is an old, historic, well-kept property that we would definitely return to. Get to know "Bobby the Doorman", he's been there for 47 years!! Breakfast at Friedman's was great."

"When we arrived, our air conditioning was not working, room was 76F. We told the front desk and they told us they would take care of it while we were out. We explored the city and came back after a Broadway show at 11PM and fond our room was 85F because they put a space heater in it. We called the desk and told them and they told us they would send someone up. We asked for a new room instead and they told us they were fully booked, but when we looked online there were still rooms available. After 2 calls and 2 visits to the front desk, someone came up to the room an hour later and installed a very rickety window unit. It worked ok for the night. The shower drain was also very slow so water overflowed and flooded the rest of the bathroom. I could excuse some of these things if the staff had actually seemed like they cared and that any of this was urgent to them, but they did not. They did move us to a new room the next night and it was much better. So, I guess it is just the luck of the draw. "

"I’d give The New Yorker Hotel a 6/10 overall. The location and building itself are nice, but my experience ended on a frustrating note. I was charged a smoking fee even though I have never smoked in my life. Apparently their sensor was triggered by hairspray, which set it off and resulted in the charge. Now I’m stuck dealing with disputing a fee for something that simply didn’t happen. It’s honestly been a huge pain to deal with, and situations like this make the stay feel a lot less enjoyable. I understand hotels enforcing no-smoking policies, but charging such a large fee without properly verifying what actually triggered the sensor feels unfair. Because of that experience, I can’t rate my stay higher than a 6/10."
