"This is really something to be experienced. It is new (2023) and massive - hundreds and hundreds of guests. It is a spa, first and foremost. The rooms are huge, quiet, and elegant; the numerous staff are efficient and multi-lingual. Hot springs in the building, hundreds of guests strolling about in hotel yukata, views of the peaks and ocean. The optional meals are definitely recommended - the food is fantastic and also it is a long hike to get down the mountain. Partner likened it to a luxury cruise ship on land."

"Everything about this hotel is first class. The Onsen is fantastic and the mountain view is wonderful. You can walk to the train station in less than five minutes. The staff will do everything they can to make your stay memorable. Sauna, two rooftop pools ,a Jacuzzi, flat screen tv, even a small gym, Self service laundry, what else can you ask for? This is my favorite hotel in Japan. "

"Our stay at Kamenoi Hotel Beppu was wonderful. The room was spacious and conveniently located near Beppu Station and bus stops, as well as a Lawsons right across the street. The onsite onsen was great as well. Very large with steam bath and open air options."

"Best 3-star hotel I've stayed at in Japan and one of the best in the world. It's got at least 4-star vibes and amenities. Clean, comfortable rooms with nice views. But the real attraction is access to the rooftop onsen (gender separate) and pool (gender mixed) next door!"

"Lovely stay at Yufuin. There is a free pick-up and drop-off options available from JR Yufuin Station which is a must unless you want to walk up crazy hills to get to the property. The room we stayed had traditional tatami mats and plenty of space to lounge around before enjoying hot springs. This property allowed us to book a private bath free of charge, and also the public bath that is open til late which was convenient. There is also free Japanese kimono that you can wear during your stay. Many ryokans nowdays charge money to lend you kimono so it was nice that it was there free of charge. We booked Japanese kaiseki-dinner as extra, breakfast was included already into our booking. The food is absolutely divine at this property - Hats off to the chef! The dinner and breakfast was well-presented by attentive and courteous staff which made the stay very enjoyable. Thing to note of this property is that it is located in the mountains so there isn't much to do other than hot springs and a little walk around their courtyard. But it was perfect for us to have this quiet down-time during our travels. "
